Good quality protein as an on-farm feed resource has been in great demand to support the productivity of ruminants. A digestion trial using beef cattle crossbreds was conducted to assess the four dietary treatments of Flemingia macrophylla silage (FMS) supplementation at 0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 kg dry matter (DM)/day in a 4 × 4 Latin square design.

The objective of this study was to assess morphological and genetic diversities of 48 forage pea landraces collected from different locations at different altitudes in Turkey. Morphological, quality, and yield features were determined for the landraces and three control cultivars in three subsequent years. Genetic diversities of the landraces and cultivars were also monitored using microsatellite (SSR) markers. Our results revealed that the features of landraces are significantly different.

The purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate level of chicken manure for the green fodder M. oleifera grown for leaf meal production as a supplement into poultry diet to improve poultry product quality (i.e., meat and egg). The experiment was conducted at Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, Vietnam, for two years from 2018 to 2019. The experiment consisted of four treatments (NT) represented by four different levels of chicken manure, namely, 0 tons (NT1), 10 tons (NT2), 20 tons (NT3) and 30 tons/ha/yr (NT4).

Fodder crops play a vital role in agriculture since continuous supply of nutritious green fodder in sufficient quantity is basic requirement for livestock to cater milk production and also to maintain the health of the livestock. The availability of good quality green fodder is far less than the requirement in Ramanagara district of Karnataka state.

Effect of date of sowing and cutting schedule on fodder yield and quality of oats was studied at two location during rabi 2016-17. Treatments comprised of 4 sowing dates (10th & 25th of Oct. and Nov.) and two cutting schedules (one cut 50/60 DAS). Results revealed that crop sown on 1st and 2nd date gave similar fodder yield but significantly higher than the later dates. Cutting the crop 65 days after sowing produced higher fodder yield than cutting 50 DAS, though with slight deterioration in quality.

Green fodder supplementation is the best way to reduce the cost of production in livestock farming. The expenditure on concentrate feed will be curtail by feeding of legume fodder. Urbanization reduces the land area for fodder production and also the failure in monsoon urges the farmers to go for fodder production under agroforestry models. Calopogonium mucunoides is a fodder legume with high quality protein and grows fast and remain productive during dry seasons.

In the India, three to four cutting are possible, typical yield distribution is 30-35 percent in the first cutting, 35-40 percent in the second cutting and 20-25 percent in subsequent cutting. More consistently high quality forage is obtained by grazing, green chopping and ensiling early spring growth to stimulate recovery growth, fertilize with nitrogen immediately following the initial cutting (Smith et al., 2005).

The present study was conducted in Rajasthan. The investigation concerned with semi-arid zone of Rajasthan, which is the highest livestock and bovine population in zone, 6986.2 and 3287.9 thousands; respectively. Milk production and productivity depend on the quality and quantity of feed & fodder. Feed and fodder constitute about 60-70 per cent cost of milk production.

Leaf spots are the most serious foliar fungal diseases of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) World wide. Early leaf spot and late leaf spots, singly or together can cause losses in pod yield of over 50% and reduce the quality of the pod and fodder. Screening of genotypes and advance breeding lines is one of the primary objective for resistance breeding in groundnut. Present investigation was carried out to screen 33 advance breeding lines and 7 released varieties of groundnut against early and late leaf spot diseases.

Supply of good quality and adequate quantities of fodder play an important role in improving the health and productivity of animals. Green and dry fodders are cheaper sources than concentrate feed, hence its inclusion would curtail the cost of feed purchase. Unfortunately, in our country there is acute scarcity of green and dry fodder mainly due to very less area available for its cultivation. In future also there are less chances to increase area under forage cultivation because of heavy pressure of burgeoning human and livestock population on meager land.
