A field experiment was carried out at ‘A-B’ Block farm of BCKV, West Bengal, during subsequent winter seasons of 2017-18 and 2018-19 with grass pea variety Ratan (Bio L-212). Ten treatment combinations were laid out in a factorial RBD consisting seed priming with Ammonium molybdate @ 0.5 g kg-1 seed and foliar feeding at pre-flowering or a second spray at 15 days interval using 2% Urea or 0.5% NPK (19:19:19) to analyse their effect on quality and nutrient uptake of relay grass pea.

Guava is one of the important fruit crop cultivated all over India. A guava plant shows micronutrient deficiency which could be responsible for lesser yield and quality. Foliar feeding of nutrients to fruit plants has gained much importance in recent years which is quite economical and obviously an ideal way of evading the problems of micronutrients availability and supplementing the fertilizers to the soil. The present investigation was conducted at Horticultural College & Research Institute, Periyakulam during 2018-2019.

The experiment was conducted to study the effect of different levels of pruning and foliar feeding of nutrients on growth, sugar content and yield of Phalsa (Grewia subinaequalis D.C.). The pruning level at 25 cm above ground level had significantly maximum shoot length (210.25 cm) and number of leaves per shoot (85.27). While, number of shoots per plant (30.60) was recorded highest with pruning at 50cm above ground level.

A field experiment was conducted at Main Experiment Station, Department of Horticulture, NDUAT, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.). Pruning of Phalsa at 50 cm above ground level combined with ZnSO₄ 0.4% increased number of shoot and fruiting nodes closely followed by Urea 2% and K₂ SO₄ 0.2% with pruning at 50 cm above ground level. Better response was obtained with fruit yield attributing attributes also. The fruit quality in terms of TSS, acidity, ascorbic acid content, juice percent and sugar content were better with ZnSO4 0.

Deficiency of micronutrients, particularly of zinc, boron, and iron, in calcareous soils is of great concern. Results indicate a reduction in yield of seed-cotton due to an imbalance of nutrients, particularly micronutrients, on calcareous soils in the last decade.

Compost Tea: A basic product used to build soil structure, add to the organic matter content of the soil and helps hold valuable nutrients in the soil. This tea is made from the leachate of compost and may be the best foliar feeding tool of all. It is not only an effective foliar fertilizer, it has powerful insect ñ and disease ñ control properties. The humic materials and microorganisms in compost tea are effective on many pests. German researchers studied the effects of compost tea, but gardeners have known its beneficial properties for years.
