The main edible mushroom is the button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus), a perfect example of economical food production which is manufactured on a specific manure delivered from farming residue materials. In mushroom cultivation successive microbial community consists of a variety of microorganisms including bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi at first breakdown the straw to form lignin humus complex and discharge the gases, and then metabolise the cellulose and hemicellulose into compost microbial biomass.

Non-thermal plasma is a new concept in food processing technology and reports available are scanty in India. To explore this novel physical decontamination technology to increase the shelf life of farm produce, a laboratory study has been carried out using cumin seed spiked with the different bacterial cultures.

This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of activities in campus Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD) on the water quality as a result of the entery and discharge of pollution materials from laboratories, food courts, agriculture and domestic waste in campus UNPAD to Check dam UNPAD, Ciparanje and Cikuda River. Very limited information is available on the phytoplankton status and the effect of water pollution on the phytoplankton population of this area.

Lead (Pb) exposure is estimated to account for 0.6% of the global burden of disease with the highest burden in developing regions. Lead is considered as general protoplasmic poison, which is slow acting, cumulative and subtle. The use of leaded gasoline, discharges from industrial activities and other sources, and deposition by rainfall or dry fall can greatly influence the availability of Pb in soil, water, and other environments. Most of the Pb in plants and soil surface are anthropogenic origin.

Application of pesticide and insecticide is important for minimising biotic stress and increasing of food production. Application of pesticides is mainly accomplished by hydraulic energy nozzles sprayer. For applying insecticide and fungicide the complete coverage on leaf surface of crop hollow cone hydraulic nozzles are used.

Nowadays, synthetic dyes are widely used in textile, leather, cosmetics, paper, food and pharmaceutical industries instead of natural dyes due to its availability, stability, low cost and color intensity which emerges a new problem of residual color in the discharged effluent. Improper discharge of dye effluent in aqueous ecosystems is aesthetically unpleasant and impedes photosynthetic activity reducing sunlight penetration, dissolved oxygen concentration and water quality in total.

Almost all of the 250 MSM surveyed knew that HIV/AIDS could be contracted through sexual intercourse and 80 percent cited condoms as a way to prevent the disease, although actual use does not reflect knowledge. Many respondents reported having experienced STI-related symptoms. For example, 42 percent had had burning or penile discharge and 22 percent reported having had lesions or pustules on their anus (Table 2).

Palliative Care: The goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of a seriously ill person’s life, and to support the patient and family when faced with terminal illness. This includes managing physical symptoms, assessing psychological and spiritual needs, patient support system and discharge planning issues. Palliative care is part of hospice care, but it can begin any time during a patient’s illness. A team approach to palliative care is optimal, with the primary care provider and social services playing an active role.

In a world where the population is expected to rise to 10 billion by the turn of the century, accelerating urbanisation and the increasing the demand for food and energy; taking action to secure sufficient water of acceptable quality for humans and nature is as urgent as ever. Climate change is projected to aggravate water stress in many regions, especially where water is already scarce and where the demand for water is growing rapidly. Increased frequency of floods is also projected.

The object of cultivating the soil is to raise from it a crop of plants. In order to cultivate with economy, we must raise the largest possible quantity with the least expense, and without permanent injury to the soil. Before this can be done we must study the character of plants, and learn their exact composition. They are not created by a mysterious power, they are merely made up of matters already in existence. They take up water containing food and other mat[Pg 12]ters, and discharge from their roots those substances that are not required for their growth. ...

distortion in the cell organelles and inhibit the activity of various enzymes (Valarmathi & Azariah, 2003; Yadav et al., 2007), which may greatly disturb the physiological state of the exposed living organism. The heavy metals present in the fertilizer industry discharge are usually in dissolved state which could easily be uptaken by fish and enter human food chain. There have been studies showed that metals will cause damage to the human kidney and liver even at low concentration.

Due to their low aqueous solubilities, the PCBs and PAHs lay on the surface of soils and waters. PCBs and PAHs adsorb strongly to the organic fraction of soils (Girvin & Scott, 1997; Hiller et al., 2011). Soils contaminated with PCBs and PAHs are transported directly or indirectly by rivers to the water reservoir and are subsequently converted into the bed sediments. Therefore, soils could be considered as the primary sinks for these organic contaminants. PCBs and PAHs are persistent in the environment, resistant to degradation process, and accumulate in food chain.

Contaminants from the industry discharge flows through river. Some are accumulate, interact and settle with the living organism, plant and sediment and finally reach the coastal and ocean. Plants and living organism in the ocean are important food sources for human intake. Contaminants may then enter human food chain and accumulate in fishes, molluscs (octopus, shellfish, and cockle), crustaceans (shrimp, crab, and lobster), seaweed, sea cucumber and etc. Therefore, it is essential to understand the effect to aquatic environment....
