  • In this study, extreme halophilic archean Natrialba asiatica was utilized as a new source for lipase production. Lipases from halophilic archaea are appealing for utilization in assorted industrial and biotechnological applications. The optimum temperature and pH of N. asiatica lipase in the crude mixture were 50 °C and 10, respectively. The growth conditions influencing lipase production were determined using a two-level fractional factorial Plackett–Burman design. Among the 9 factors screened, MgCl2 concentration, temperature, and shaking were found to be effective.

  • Successful pellet production has been reported in literature with cross-linked poly(vinylpyrrolidone), Polyplasdone® XL-10 and INF-10. In the present study, a quality by experimental design approach was used to assess several formulation and process parameter effects on the characteristics of Polyplasdone® XL-10 pellets, including pellet size, shape, yield, usable yield, friability, and number of fines. The hypothesis is that design of experiments and appropriate data analysis allow optimization of the Polyplasdone product.

  • Surfactant-enhanced hollow fiber liquid phase (SE-HF-LPME) microextraction was applied for the extraction of melamine in conjunction with high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection (HPLC–UV). Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was added firstly to the sample solution at pH 1.9 to form hydrophobic ion-pair with protonated melamine. Then the protonated melamine–dodecyl sulfate ion-pair (Mel–DS) was extracted from aqueous phase into organic phase immobilized in the pores and lumen of the hollow fiber.
