Radiobiological daily changes within tumors are considered to be quite different between stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) (e.g., 50Gy in 4 fractions) and conventional radiotherapy (e.g., 60Gy in 30 fractions). We aim to assess the optimal interval of irradiation in SRT and compare outcomes of daily irradiation with irradiation at two- to three-day intervals in SRT for patients with one to five brain metastases (BM).

Large-scale trials have shown that hypofractionated adjuvant breast radiotherapy was as effective in terms of survival and local control as conventional fractionated radiotherapy, and acute toxicity was reduced with hypofractionated radiotherapy.

Efforts have been made to investigate the role of salvage radiotherapy (RT) in treating recurrent ovarian cancer (ROC). Stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR) is a state-of-the-art therapy that uses intensity modulation to increase the fractional dose, decrease the number of fractions, and target tumors with high precision.

Radiation therapy (XRT) causes numerous biological changes in tumor microenvironment. Radiation vascular response, due to endothelial disruption, can influence treatment outcomes in a dose-dependent manner.

This thesis aims to build on the current body of knowledge relating to the tertiary radiation contributions within an interventional radiology suite. An accurate estimation of tertiary radiation requires knowledge of the amount of patient-scattered radiation incident onto the concrete ceiling (the patient-scattered air kerma) and the fraction of the radiation incident on concrete that is scattered back towards the point of interest (the concrete-scattered air kerma).

This paper summarizes the results of a specific task from the intercomparison exercise modelling internal radiation sources. The quantities to be calculated were absorbed fractions and specific absorbed fractions for monoenergetic photon and electron sources as well as Svalues for two radionuclides in four source organs.

Apart from the commercially used Thermalox, BeOR is a new type of Beryllium Oxide fabricated by a different company in Turkey. As it is shown by other groups, this dosimeter yields two overlapping main dosimetric TL peaks in the temperature region of 100–300 ◦C and one peak at 350 ◦C.

The applicability of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating on quartz from South Island, New Zealand is hampered by the poor behaviour of the targeted signals. However, most OSL dating studies have been focused on using coarse quartz fractions.

Breast-conserving surgery (BCS) and whole breast radiation therapy (WBRT) are the standard of care for early-stage breast cancer (BC). Based on the observation that most local recurrences occurred near the tumor bed, accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI), consisting of a higher dose per fraction to the tumor bed over a reduced treatment time, has been gaining ground as an attractive alternative in selected patients with low-risk BC.

Radiotherapy (RT) is currently considered the treatment of choice for presumed canine intracranial gliomas. However, variable therapeutic responses are described, due to heterogeneous populations and different radiation methods or protocols. Only one study dedicated to intracranial suspected glioma highlighted prognostic criteria.

Dosimetric quantities at various distances from a 30 cm diameter polyethylene sphere moderated 241Am-Be source were investigated using the Bonner sphere spectrometer system. The different international commercial unfolding codes were applied to unfold the neutron spectrum, and their shapes were compared to each other. Additionally, the integrated neutron fluence rates overall spectrum and fractional neutron fluence rates were deduced and compared between the results obtained from different unfolding codes.

The Present study was carried out in the wire-netting house of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kalahandi during Rabi 2014-15.The objective of the present endeavour was to screen 6 number of Paddy varieties (early group,75-85 days) for higher photosynthetic efficiency with higher productivity under simulated moisture stress conditions. The experiment was laid out in a factorial CRD with three stress treatments and three replications.

The kidneys are a principal dose-limiting organ in radiotherapy for upper abdominal cancers. The current understanding of kidney radiation dose response is rudimentary. More precise dose-volume response models that allow direct correlation of delivered radiation dose with spatio-temporal changes in kidney function may improve radiotherapy treatment planning for upper-abdominal tumours.

Increasing the biological effective dose (BED) of radiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) can increase local control rates and improve overall survival. Compared with conventional fractionated radiotherapy, accelerated hypofractionated radiotherapy can yield higher BED, shorten the total treatment time, and theoretically obtain better efficacy.

A high rate of glycolysis leading to elevated lactate content has been linked to poor clinical outcomes in patients with head and neck and cervical cancer treated with radiotherapy. Although the biological explanation for this relationship between lactate and treatment response remains unclear, there is a continued interest in evaluating strategies of targeting metabolism to enhance the effectiveness of radiotherapy.
