To investigate the clinical efficacy of cement augmentation procedures on patients diagnosed with vertebral compression fracture. Subjects and methods: A serial cross-sectional study on 66 patients (76 compressed vertebrae) who underwent vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty at Duc Giang Hospital from 2015 to 2018.

Vitamin D is essential for calcium metabolism, Vitamin D deficiency can precipitate osteoporosis, cause muscle weakness and increase the risk of fracture. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of vitamin D inadequacy among non-supplemented postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and fragility fractures of the hip or vertebrae in Taiwan.

Currently, Posterior Short Segment Pedicle Screw Fixation is a popular procedure for treating unstable thoracolumbar/lumbar burst fracture. But progressive kyphosis and a high rate of hardware failure because of lack of the anterior column support remains a concern.

Adjacent fracture of the cemented vertebrae result from crushed fragile trabeculae during follow-up, suggesting impaired bone marrow integrity. This study aimed to determine if anti-osteoporotic therapy can decrease the risk of adjacent fracture in patients after vertebroplasty.

Cervical spine fixation or immobilization has become a routine treatment for spinal fracture, dislocation, subluxation injuries, or spondylosis. The effects of immobilization of intervertebral discs of the cervical spine is unclear. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effects of long-segment in-situ immobilization of intervertebral discs of the caudal vertebra, thereby simulating human cervical spine immobilization.

Thoracolumbar burst fractures can be treated with posterior short-segment fixation. However, no classification can help to estimate whether the healed vertebral body will have sufficient stability after implant removal. We aimed to develop a Healing Pattern Classification (HPC) to evaluate the stability of the healed vertebra based on cavity size and location.

Various studies have described the efficacy and safety of the treatment for unstable thoracolumbar osteoporotic burst fracture, however, there is still no consensus on the optimal treatment regimen. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic results of posterior short segment fixation including the fractured vertebra (PSFFV) combined with kyphoplasty (KP) for unstable thoracolumbar osteoporotic burst fracture.

Vertebral augmentation is the first-line treatment for the osteoporosis vertebral compression fractures. Bone cement leakage is the most common complication of this surgery. This study aims to assess the risk factors for different types of cement leakage and provides a nomogram for predicting the cement intradiscal leakage.

Osteoporosis is a complex systemic skeletal disease that leads to an increased risk of fracture, usually of the vertebra, hip, wrist and humerus. The disorder is characterized by reduced bone mineral density (BMD), disrupted bone microarchitecture and alterations in the amount and variety of proteins in bone. During the last years a better understanding of the cellular mechanisms operating in bone remodeling, both for healthy and affected bones, was gained [26].

Congenital Anomalies of the Lumbar Spine Spondylolysis is a bony defect in the pars interarticularis (a segment near the junction of the pedicle with the lamina) of the vertebra; the etiology may be a stress fracture in a congenitally abnormal segment. The defect (usually bilateral) is best visualized on oblique projections in plain x-rays, CT scan, or single photon emission CT (SPECT) bone scan and occurs in the setting of a single injury, repeated minor injuries, or growth.
