The Sarcophyton sp., are very strong and dominant in many coral reef areas. Sarcophyton species are characterized by a distinct sterile stalk, a broad, flared, smooth, mushroomshaped top, with a wide distribution and dominance in numerous coral reef areas extending from the Red Sea and eastern Africa to the western Pacific Ocean.

Ebook "Smart nanohybrids of RAFT polymers and inorganic particles" offer a comprehensive introduction to basics of polymer science and the applied methodologies. In following chapters, the author describes in detail how he systematically tailored the polymers using reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (RAFT) for combination with inorganic nanoparticles.

The chain sequence of co-polymers strongly affects their physical properties. It is, therefore, of crucial importance for the development and final properties of novel materials. Currently however, few analytical methods are available to monitor the sequence of copolymers.

The ability to profile and quantify small non-coding RNAs (sRNAs), specifically microRNAs (miRNAs), using highthroughput sequencing is challenging because of their small size. We developed QsRNA-seq, a method for preparation of sRNA libraries for high-throughput sequencing that overcomes this difficulty by enabling a gelfree separation of fragments shorter than 100 nt that differ only by 20 nt in length.

Hi-C is a popular technique to map three-dimensional chromosome conformation. In principle, Hi-C’s resolution is only limited by the size of restriction fragments. However, insufficient sequencing depth forces researchers to artificially reduce the resolution of Hi-C matrices at a loss of biological interpretability.

In a moss sample collected from Mount Kulal in Kenya, a new population of Mesobiotus radiatus was found. Given that the original description of M. radiatus was based solely on the morphology observed by light microscopy and measurements based mostly on a single individual, here we describe the new population by means of integrative taxonomy and a large sample size.

Previous studies found that cell-free DNA (cfDNA) generated from tumors was shorter than that from healthy cells, and selecting short cfDNA could enrich for tumor cfDNA and improve its usage in early cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring; however, the underlying mechanism of shortened tumor cfDNA was still unknown, which potentially limits its further clinical application.

Transposable elements (TEs) are fragments of DNA that can insert into new chromosomal locations. They represent a great proportion of eukaryotic genomes. The identification and characterization of TEs facilitates understanding the transpositional activity of TEs with their effects on the orchid genome structure.

Guidelines for treatment of the posterior fracture fragment in trimalleolar fractures are scarce and show varying advices. Did the increasing size of the posterior fragment seem to relate to worse outcome in the past, nowadays this has changed to the amount of dislocation of the posterior fragment post-operatively.

For a distal tibial spiral fracture combined with a non-displaced posterior malleolar fragment (PMF), we proposed a hypothesis that the treating surgeon could assess the size of the PMF to determine the need for stabilizing that structure first before rodding the tibia.

There has been no gold standard of the initial treatment strategy for acute patellar dislocation (APD) with osteochondral fracture (OCF). Hence the study aim is firstly, to review and compare clinical outcomes of patients who underwent conservative treatment for APD with or without OCF. Secondly, to characterize the location and size of fracture fragment.

Twenty three simple sequence repeat markers were used to study genetic relationship among fifty three rice varieties developed from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. All markers were polymorphic among 53 varieties. A total of 55 alleles were produced for 23 markers with fragment size ranging from 60bp (RM204) to 470bp (RGNMS1289). The number of alleles per marker were ranged from two (RM262) to four (RGNMS1776) with an average of 2.39 alleles/loci.

Collar rot of chilli caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. is currently occurring in chilli growing areas of Marathwada region in India. The genetic diversity among eight chilli S. rolfsii isolates collected from eight districts covering various geographic areas of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state were analysed using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) using five random primers. Size of DNA fragments amplified by the five primers ranged from 0.1 Kb to 10 Kb indicating polymorphism among S. rolfsii isolates. RAPD banding profiles with five different random primers viz.

Bispecific T-cell engaging antibodies (BiTES), comprising dual anti-CD3 and anti-tumor antigen scFv fragments, are important therapeutic agents for the treatment of cancer. The dual scFv construct for BiTES requires proper protein folding while their small molecular size leads to rapid kidney clearance.

Cycads occur in lowland forests and are threatened by their degradation, fragmentation and over-exploitation. Our results indicate that cycad population sizes were very small (less 100 individuals) with high propagules. These increased mating between closely related individuals growing in clumps. The allozyme data show although all studied cycads maintained high levels of genetic diversity, an average of 0.556 (0.491 in C. hoabinhensis to 0.598 in C. chevalieri ), the degree of inbreeding was high.
