  • In this research, rice husk, abandoned and available agriculture waste, were developed into activated carbon using microwave methods. The optimal experimental parameters such as pH, contact time, activated carbon dose, and temperature were investigated. The activated carbon was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. The maximum adsorption capacities toward methylene blue was 6.13 mg g-1 . The experimental data fitted the Freundlich equation well, although the Langmuir equation could also describe them.

  • Soil Samples are collected for Phosphorus Adsorption behavior from three representative soils of Chhattisgarh which belong to the Inceptisol, Alfisol and Vertisol. Two adsorption equation viz., Langmuir and Freundlich were used to describe P adsorption behavior. The P adsorption at the solid phase was strongly related to its concentration in the solution phase and Vertisol with maximum clay content recorded highest P adsorption at a given equilibrium P concentration indicating that P ions are most tightly held by Vertisol.

  • The laboratory experiment was conducted at Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. In this experiment, the adsorption of nitrate onto soils of different cropping systems viz. rice-wheat(R-W), rice-vegetable (R-V), pulse-pulse (P-P) and sugarcane(S) was carried out in a batch equilibrium system. Surface soil samples were collected for adsorption study from each cropping system. Results showed that the adsorption isotherms were L- type (Langmuir type) in most of the soils.

  • This study applies the development and application of low cost, Punica granatum bio- adsorbent for the removal of fluoride in groundwater. The batch adsorption study was carried out to analyze the defluoridation by contact time variation, adsorbent dose, adsorbate concentration, adsorbent particle size and presence of coanions at neutral pH. The analysis of the isotherm equilibrium data using the Langmuir and Freundlich equations by linear methods showed that the data fitted better with Freundlich model (R 2 0.980).

  • In this study, the adsorption behavior of some low-cost adsorbents such as peanut husk charcoal, fly ash, and natural zeolite, with respect to Cu2+, and Zn2+ ions, has been studied in order to consider its application to the purification of metal finishing wastewater. The batch method was employed: parameters such as pH, contact time, and initial metal concentration were studied. The influence of the pH of the metal ion solutions on the uptake levels of the metal ions by the different adsorbents used were carried out between pH 4 and pH 11.

  • In the present study Terminalia chebula was used as an eco-friendly natural colorant for sustainable textile coloration of woolen yarn with primary emphasis on thermodynamic and kinetic adsorption aspects of dyeing processes. Polyphenols and ellagitannins are the main coloring components of the dye extract. Assessment of the effect of pH on dye adsorption showed an increase in adsorption capacity with decreasing pH. Effect of temperature on dye adsorption showed 80 C as optimum temperature for wool dyeing with T. chebula dye extract.

  • The adsorption of Ni2+ was carried out onto composite in aqueous solution via varying pH, contact time and its initial concentration. The experimental adsorption data fitted into Freundlich adsorption isotherm model (r2 = 0.9898) better than into Langmuir one (r2 = 0.6764). The adsorption followed pseudo-second order kinetic model very well (r2 = 0.9976). The maximum adsorption capacity of that composite was 66.67 mg/g which calculated from the pseudoLangmuir equation.

  • The adsorption of phenol over MCM-41 prepared from rice husk silica was investigated. MCM-41 material (RH-MCM-41) was synthesized using sodium silicate prepared from rice husk as a silica source and cetyltrimetylammoniumbromide (CTAB) as a surfactant with the following gel composition: 1SiO2: 0.106CTAB: 0.03NaOH: 150H2O. The obtained material was characterized by XRD and BET. RH-MCM-41 exhibits high surface area and highly ordered hexagonal mesoporous structures. The adsorption of phenol over RH-MCM-41 fit well to both Langmuir and Freundlich isothermers.
