Frontline demonstration on yield

The present study was carried out at KVK Shajapur (MP) to know the yield gaps between improved package and practices (IP) under Cluster Font Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) and farmers practices (FP) of mustard. The percent increase in yield IP over FP was recorded in the range of 21 to 22. The cost benefit ratio was 3.7 and 3.8 under demonstration, while it was 3.1 to 3.4 under control plots.

A total 26 frontline demonstration on cereals crops out of which 16 demonstration on rice and 10 on wheat were organized at farmers’ fields of Sheopur district under Gird zone of Madhya Pradesh during kharif and rabi season of 2014-15. The results of these demonstrations revealed that the rice and wheat yielded 10.07 and 12.14 percent higher than farmer’s practices.

The present study was conducted to assess the impact of frontline demonstrations on summer moong crop conducted in Jalandhar district of Punjab. The field study was carried out by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gajapati to assess the yield gap of toria (Brassica campestris var. toria) through frontline demonstration in north eastern ghat region of Odisha. Toria is most important oilseeds crop after harvest of kharif rice in rainfed areas of Gajapati. Productivity of the crop is lower in farmer’s field due to several constraints. Non-adoption of improved technologies is one of the major causes for its lower productivity.

Front line demonstration is an effective and appropriate tool to demonstrate recommended technologies among the farmers. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, JAU, Amreli conducted 30 demonstrations on castor during 2015-16 to 2017-18 in the villages of Amreli district. The study found, the yield of castor in IT under irrigated conditions ranges from 25.70 to 27.85 q/ha whereas in FP it ranges between 19.45 to 22.31 q/ha. The per cent increase in yield with IP over FP was recorded in the range of 18.5 to 32.1%. The extension gap and technological index were ranging from 4.1 to 6.3 q/ha and 2.2 to 4.
