  • There have been numerous attempts to transfer Papaya ringspot virus type P (PRSV-P) resistance from wild Vasconcellea relatives to Carica papaya L. Success has been limited by the high degree of genetic divergence and incompatibility. In the present work, the advanced intergeneric population of Carica papaya (var. Arka Surya) and Vasconcellea cauliflora were evaluated for morphological, fruit traits and PRSV- P tolerance.

  • One hundred twenty five advanced lines (F6) with four check varieties were evaluated in an augmented randomized complete block design for 13 different morphological traits under irrigated (E1) and water stressed (E2) conditions with five blocks during rabi 2015- 16. Heritability was high (>50%) for all these characters except for test weight and oil content under E1 condition and for fruit zone length and oil content under E2 condition.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the biological efficiency and main bioactive components of three G. lucidum strains, viz. GA1, GA2, and GA3, cultivated in Tam Dao town. The results demonstrated that all strains were capable of growing well on PDA medium supplemented with rice bran. The time required for complete colonization was 9 days. All tested strains of G. lucidum were able to adapt to climate conditions and produce fruiting bodies with satisfactory yield (13-17%), and therefore, they could be considered suitable candidates for commercial cultivation of G. lucidum in Tam Dao.

  • In the present study, morphological traits of growth, fruits and quality were observed in different genotypes of Sea buckthorn growing naturally in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. The mean performance of plant resources was studied and phenotypic characters were evaluated. Mean values for almost all the characters were found higher in genotype CH-41. Different genotypes showed varied morphology from shrub to tree with plant height ranging from 3m to 6m.

  • Khasi Mandarin (Citrus reticulata Blanco.) is one of the most widely cultivated and important commercial fruit crop of North East India. A survey was conducted in Mandarin orchards from three district of Manipur viz., Tamenglong, Bishnupur and Noney during 2018 to study the present status of Khasi Mandarin in Manipur with growth, yield and quality parameters. The Mandarin fruits were evaluated morphologically and biochemically for different parameters. It was observed that all the three district of Manipur was found to have Khasi Mandarin in the orchards but it was gradually declined.
