Fungicides against Bipolaris sorokiniana

In view of the above facts, the present study was undertaken to evaluate the variable effects of some selected fungicides against some B. sorokiniana.

Wheat (Triticum estivum L.) is the major and important winter cereal food crop grown in India during Rabi season. The crop suffer from a number of devastating disease by fungi, bacteria, virus, phytoplasmas, nematodes and many other factors which educe yield and quality. The major fungal disease of wheat, spot blotch caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana is the most devastating disease in India and several other countries. The diseases affect all areal part of the plant.. Many new fungicides and biocides have been under taken to evaluate with poison food method.

All the 10 treatments imposed improved yield and 1000-grain weight to a greater extent as compared to control. The fungicide seed treatment with vitavax power+Tilt (propiconazole) two spray performed best followed by folicur (tebuconazol) and Taspa (propiconazole 13.9%+ difenconazole13.9%). However, in different categories, seed treatment with vitavax power and flusilazole 40EC were the succeeding treatments effective against spot blotch of wheat.

Spot blotch caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana (Sacc. in Sorok.) Shoem. is an important disease of Wheat and Barley. The biological control has been proved useful and economical in the control of spot blotch because of the harmful effect of fungicides to human and environment. The Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma virens were used in dual culture method to see their effect on mycelial growth of Bipolaris sorokiniana.
