Maize is considered to be the third most important cereal after rice and wheat in India. It is being cultivated worldwide in a wider range of environmental conditions, because of its greater adaptability. It is known to be affected by more than 62 diseases. Among them, turcicum leaf blight caused by Exserohilum turcicum (Pass.) Leonard and Suggs is of significant importance as it drastically reduces the yield by reducing photosynthetic activity of the plant.

A field experiment was carried out at Rice Research Station, Chinsurah, Hooghly during kharif, 2013 and boro, 2013-14 to evaluate the compatibility of selected insecticides with fungicides against yellow stem borer (YSB) and sheath blight (ShB). The trial included nine treatments consisting of insecticides, pre-mix flubendiamide + buprofezin and triazophos and fungicide, hexaconazole and tricyclazole which were applied alone as individual treatment and in four possible combination treatment with untreated control. The experiment was laid in RBD with three replications.

Six fungicides viz., captan 50 WP, copper oxychloride 50 WP, dodine 65 WP, mancozeb75 WP, propineb70 WP and zineb 80 WP were evaluated against rice sheath blight (Thanatephorus cucumeris). The in-vitro evaluation of these fungicides through poisoned food technique at five different concentrations viz., 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 µg a.i ml-1 indicated that mancozeb proved the most effective exhibiting mean mycelial growth inhibition of 95.26 per cent followed by captan and dodine with 93.80 and 93.66 per cent, respectively. Copper oxychloride proved least effective and resulted in only 44.

Sheath blight of rice caused by Rhizoctonia solani is one of the major biotic constraints in India and reduce rice yield ranging from 20-50% depending on the severity of the disease and stages of infection. The disease has spread widely in terms of both occurrence and intensity over past 20 years.

The bacterial leaf blight of rice caused by Xanthomonas oryazae pv. oryzae is the disease of great economics importance in India especially in Bihar. Management of BLB disease can play a vital role in management of rice disease. In the present investigation evolution of different plant extract (botanical) and new chemical on growth of bacteria by poison food technique and sowing by best botanical and new chemical were conducted and antagonistic activity were tested.

Stem rot of rice, caused by Sclerotia oryzae is a serious threat to rice production in India. Fungicides only provide limited control of this pathogen but also have ill effects on the environment. In an attempt to develop better integrated strategies for management of this disease, a field study was conducted during rabi 2017-18 to evaluate the strategies of integration of effective fungicide Hexaconazole (0.2 %) and the bacterial antagonistic isolate P.F-4 which were effective against S. oryzae in vitro studies.

Meat is a highly perishable food which is easily susceptible to microbial contamination. There are various factors which affect the freshness of the meat the most important factors are storage temperature, time of exposure of meat to extrinsic factors and handling of carcass during and after slaughter. Hence a study was conducted to compare the microbial load in chevon carcass hanged at room temperature for 6 hours and at chiller temperature for 30 hours. Twenty four numbers of 6 months old tellicherry young male goats were selected and they were slaughtered by the standard procedure.

In the present investigation efforts were made to evaluate different rice based fungicides viz; Trifloxystrobin (25%) + Tebuconazole (50%) WG, Tebuconazole (25.9%) EC, Carbendazim (50%) WG, Propiconozole (25%) EC, Hexaconazole (5%) EC and Mancozeb (63 % WP) against the mycelial growth of rice grain discoloration causing pathogen Curvularia lunata. Among all the fungicides tested, Trifloxystrobin (25%) + Tebuconazole (50%) WG and Tebuconazole proved to be completely effective in inhibiting the growth of the pathogen at low concentrations i.e.

Efficacy of fungicides and herbicides was tested using poison food technique against Sclerotium oryzae. Out of eight fungicides tested against S. oryzae, the stem rot pathogen propiconazole @ 100 ppm and hexaconazole @ 200 ppm were found effective in inhibiting the mycelial growth of S. oryzae by 100 per cent followed by Carbendazim (97.98%), Tebuconazole (97.77%) and Mancozeb (97.76%) which were found on par with each other in inhibiting the mycelial growth of the test pathogen.

False smut disease caused by Ustilaginoidea virens (Cooke) (Takahashi) is a grain disease of rice that converts whole grain into powder (smut balls) form. Disease infestation leads to sterile spikelets and reduction in 1000 grain weight. Considering the importance of disease the experiment was carried out to assessment of IDM module with Propiconazole and Carbendazim in rice through on field trials (OFT) against false smut disease in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh.

Rice is one of the important cereal crop and known to be affected by many diseases. Bacterial leaf blight of rice is a destructive disease of rice, known to be caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and it also be reported to cause by species of Pantoea. BLB diseased samples were collected from southern districts of Tamil Nadu and upon isolation, the pathogen was thought to be Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. But, the results of biochemical and molecular characterization revealed that the causal agent was not Xanthomonas, but a new species of bacterium Pantoea stewartii subsp.
