Preponderance of wood apple seedlings are seen growing naturally at scattered/isolated areas of various agro climatic zones of Gujarat, India, and chance for the selection of superior genotypes are very high due to huge genetic diversity in the exiting populations. In order to reveal the genetic variability in wood apple, as fruit sample with shoot from diverse areas of province were collected and analysed for various physic-chemical attributes.

Characterization of cultivars using bio-chemical markers has been successfully used for selection of improved cultivars in mango for breeding programs. The study was conducted at Horticultural research station, Venkataramannagudem for evaluating the variability of mango cultivars to conserve the elite ones and to identify the superior genotypes based on fruit bio-chemical markers for future crop improvement. Thirty four cultivars were characterized using bio-chemical fruit markers in subsequent years to know the genetic diversity in mango.

The present investigation was carried out with 32 diverse genotypes of bread wheat in completely randomized block design with 3 replications at Norman E. Borlaug Crop Research Centre, G.B. Pant University of agriculture & Technology Pantnagar for screening the genetic diversity for yield and physiological traits under normal sown condition. The observations were recorded on 16 agronomic traits and 3 physiological traits. The statistical analysis for genetic divergence was done using Mahalanobis-D 2 statistics and clustering of genotypes was done using Tocher method.

Chilli leaf curl disease is a serious threat to summer crop of chilli in South India causing economic yield losses. Therefore, development of chilli hybrids having leaf curl tolerance and high yield is the present need in chilli growing regions. Seven high yielding lines were crosses with four resistant testers in line × tester mating design to produce 28 F1 hybrids. Berseem, a nitrogen-fixing, annual, multicut forage crop cultivated around 2 million hectares areas of northern, central and eastern parts of India. Berseem has variability for pollination behavior however variation for morphological and agronomic traits are scare, perhaps, because of initially introduction of crop with narrow genetic base. Genetic variability have been fortified through introduction of exotic materials, intra-interspecific hybridization, induction of polyploidy and mutation.
