Hessian fly larval feeding triggers enhanced polyamine levels in susceptible but not resistant wheat
Hessian fly (Mayetiola destructor), a member of the gall midge family, is one of the most destructive pests of wheat (Triticum aestivum) worldwide. Probing of wheat plants by the larvae results in either an incompatible (avirulent larvae, resistant plant) or a compatible (virulent larvae, susceptible plant) interaction.

Kavya, a high yielding, gall midge resistant (Gm1), Medium Slender (MS) grain type rice variety with 135 days of duration, but is susceptible to biotype 4M prevalent in Warangal condition (Telangana State, India). Considering the susceptibility of Kavya to gallmidge resistance especially for biotype GMB4M...

An experiment was framed to know the genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance and character association among the lines homozygous dominant for gall midge resistance gene Gm4 in the genetic background of ADT 38 variety of rice in advanced backcross (BC1F5) generation of rice. The Phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) was higher than the genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) for all the characters studied. High GCV coupled with high PCV was exhibited by single plant yield. This result creates scope for selection of superior segregants.
