Fractions yielded from Phellinus gilvus fruiting bodies by liquid-liquid partition of methanol extract contained various bioactive compounds such as phenolics, flavonoids and terpenes. Butanol, water and ethyl acetate fractions had large amount of phenolics, 158.12 - 247.31 mg of gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/g and low amount of flavonoids, 21.74 - 36.05 mg of quercetin equivalents (QE)/g.

Produced from leaves of Camellia sinensis L. (Kuntz), tea is among the most common beverages worldwide. Tea plants have been grown in nearly 30 countries. In this study, the FolinCiocalteu method was applied to determine the total polyphenol contents (referred to milligrams gallic acid mass equivalence or GAE) in tea products (one oolong and three ancient teas, including red, green, and white) based on ISO 14502-1:2005 with some modifications, typically ultrasonicassisted single extraction using methanol:water (7:3 v/v) as an extraction solvent at 70oC with the extraction ratio of 0.200:10.

In this work, we investigated the larvicidal, ovicidal, and histopathological alterations induced by Lepidium sativum seed extracts in Culex pipiens. Hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and methanol solvents were used for the seed extraction. Only ethyl acetate seed extract was active against the third instar mosquito larvae of Cx. pipiens. The ethyl acetate extract had an LC50 of 27.03 µg/mL. Egg hatchability was between 95% (25 µg/mL) and 5% (200 µg/mL). The ethyl acetate treated larvae showed protruding epithelial cells, and degraded microvilli. The total phenolic content was 0.3 ± 0.

Rhodomyrtus tomentosa is an evergreen shrub that originates from Southeast Asia and grows in abundance with rose-pink flowers and dark-purple edible bell-shaped fruits. In this study, optimal extraction conditions for achieving high contents and antioxidant activities of the total phenolic compound (TPC) from Phu Quoc sim fruits were investigated.

This in-vitro study evaluates the antibacterial &antifungal action of aqueous & alcoholic extracts of new herbal vaginal formulation containing equal amounts of Symplocos racemosa Roxb. and Ficus glomerata Roxb. stem barks against gram positive and gram negative bacteria and candid fungus by using the methods of zone of inhibition and minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) to assess its efficacy in treating vaginitis. During phytochemical analysis, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins and carbohydrates were found to be present in both extracts.

Helicteres hirsuta Lour., particularly its stems and leaves have been used in Vietnamese traditional medicine to cure furuncles, dysentery, measles and flu. In this study, we examined biological activities of 5 fractions from methanol extract of H. hirsuta roots. The results showed that ethyl acetate fraction has the highest content of phenolic and flavonoid compounds (220.9 ± 15.67 mg GAE, gallic acid equivalents/g dry weight and 23.03 ± 0.97 mg QE, quercetin equivalents/g dry weight, respectively).
