Garden pea (Pisum Sativum L.) genotypes

The pod yield was significantly and positively correlated with pod weight, pod girth, pericarp thickness, seed weight per pod, number of pods per plant and weight of 100 seeds. The path coefficient analysis using the phenotypic correlation coefficient among the pair of characters showed that number of pods per plant had the highest positive direct effect on yield. At last it could be concluded that PSM-3 and PSM5 are best performing varieties for this region according to green pod yield.

The present investigation was carried out to study genetic parameters and performance of thirty four and forty eight genotypes of garden pea in kharif and rabi season, respectively, during 2017. Genotypes were grown in RBD design with two replications at Main Agricultural Research Station, UAS, Dharwad.

Character association and path analysis in twenty-three genotypically diverse indigenous and exotic genotypes of pea was studied for fourteen important characters. The genotypic and phenotypic association of pod yield per plant was significantly positive with TSS, 10 pod weight, pod length, number of pods per plant and fresh weight of root nodules per plant but negative and significant association was found with days to50% flowering indicating that early flowering and early picking might be associated with increasing the pod yield per plant.

An Experiment was carried out at Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, UHS, Bagalkot during the year 2018-19.The observations were recorded on various yield and yield contributing characters. Analysis of variance indicated highly significant difference among the genotypes for all the characters indicating the presence of wide range of variability in the genotypes. ThePCV was invariably higher than their corresponding GCV for all the characters.
