Garrett score

The present study was conducted in two agro-climatic zones; Central plain zone (CPZ) and Western plain zone (WPZ) of Punjab having maximum number of dairy animals according to 20th livestock census. The data were collected by using well structured interview schedule from 300 dairy farmers of CPZ and WPZ. Garrett‟s ranking technique was used to prioritize the different sets of constraints in terms of their mean score.

Rice occupies a pivotal place in Indian agriculture and provides 43% calorie requirement for more than 70 % of its people. It accounts for about 42% of total food grain production and 55% of cereal production in the country. The CGAR (from 1997-98 to 2017-18) of area, production and productivity under all rice was found as 1.09 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.62 per cent, respectively, while that of boro rice it was found as1.73 per cent, 1.58 per cent and 0.91 per cent, respectively.

Bhagalpur district of Bihar has been a traditional aromatic rice growing area, where the varieties, like Katarni, Tulsi Manjari, Badshahbhog, Br-9 and Br-10 are most common. This variety has been given Geographical Indication (GI) due to its unique and special quality trait which develops only in its GI territory area. Despite its uniqueness katarni rice is facing the threat of extinction, mainly due to declining irrigation facility, adoption of other high yielding rice varieties and adulteration by traders of non- aromatic rice grains with katarni with the profit motto.

The present study was conducted in Ludhiana district of Punjab to identify the constraints perceived by beneficiaries of livestock based Self Help Groups (SHGs). Parenting is a process where the children are supported and promoted in all the domains of development from infancy to adulthood. Hence the study was taken up to know parenting and factors influencing parenting among urban and rural mothers from intact and single parent families from Bidar District. The sample comprised of 120 single mothers and 120 mothers from intact families from urban and rural areas of Bidar were selected using purposive proportionate random sampling method.
