  • Ebook "Reactions of solids with gases (Comprehensive chemical kinetics, Volume 21)" addresses collision energy transfer and the effects it has on gas phase reactions, particularly at low gas density. Such systems include combustion, industrial gas phase processes and atmospheric/environmental processes. The book also discusses The Master Equation to give a good overview of the mechanics underpinning unimolecular kinetics. This new volume will be of interest to researchers investigating gas phase processes which involve unimolecular reactions and the related intermolecular reactions.

  • Ebook "Thermophilic carboxydotrophs and their applications in biotechnology" describes the products produced by carboxydotrophic bacteria and their biotechnological applications. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a widespread pollutant and a hazard to man because of its extremely toxic nature. It is a major component of some industrial gas mixtures and may be derived from coal. The carboxydotrophic bacteria obtain energy and carbon from the oxidation of CO. These organisms may be used to produce new metabolites, and the oxidases from them may be used to produce fuel cells and biosensors for CO.

  • The objective of the article was to analyze the issue of developing energy price formation by various countries in the context of component structure of the cost per energy unit for households. For conducting the research the principles “Expenses +” and Regulatory Asset Base were used. Amethodological author’s approach related to the estimation of pricing level for energy resources based on Energy Pricing Index was proposed. The highest gas prices are in Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, France and Ireland that relates not so much to gas market as to the prime cost of green electricity.

  • The energy requirement has increased exponentially over the past decades due to industrialization and the changes of subsequent lifestyle. Almost 90% of the present energy source is based on the combustion of fossil fuels. Diesel engines are considered the most ideal power generators in transportation and industrial sectors owing to their fuel economy and efficiency. However, they suffer from the disadvantages of exhaust pollutants particularly oxides of nitrogen (NOx), which are facing increasingly stringent emission regulations which led to the search for alternative technologies.

  • The aim of this research work is to increase the quality, productivity of steel and to reduce the CO2 emissions from the global manufacturing sector. On average, the production of one ton of steel generates about two tons of CO2 emission. The main cause for energy inefficiency and environment pollution are outdated steel production technology in use. The green steel is a new steelmaking process lowers green house gas emission, cuts costs and improves the quality of steel. The new process is known as molten oxide electrolysis and the clever use of iron-chromium alloys.
