This work reports the synthesis and properties of a new membrane based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) grafting with polyacrylic acid (PAA) using argon (Ar) plasma. The membranes of PVC were synthesized by solutioncasting method, where PAA was deposited as an ultrathin film onto PVC using dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure with Ar gas. The surface characteristics and chemical composition of the modified membranes were analyzed by water contact angle, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

After a short gestation, marsupials give birth to immature neonates with lungs that are not fully developed and in early life the neonate partially relies on gas exchange through the skin. Therefore, significant lung development occurs after birth in marsupials in contrast to eutherian mammals such as humans and mice where lung development occurs predominantly in the embryo.

This study were to determine the response patterns of stomatal density to different gas exchange characteristics, and to develop the relationship of stomatal density with gas exchange. An understanding of the relationship between stomatal features and environmental factors would be of considerable importance for the better fruit tree growth on the warming globe.

The performance and water use efficiency (WUE) of Chrysanthemum var. Marigold was evaluated under two moisture regimes, i.e., 100 % FC and 70 % FC imposed and maintained using gravimetric method. At 100 % FC, the plant height (30.33 cm), average plant spread (38.21 cm), number of primary branches/plant (5.67) and secondary branches/plant (4.67), number of leaves/plant (71.67), number of flowers/plant (136.75), average weight of individual flowers (7.21g), RWC (94.29%), root: shoot ratio (0.42), total fresh bio mass (153.09 g), flower yield (881.67 g / plant) and shelf life of 7.

This present study compares the characteristics of biochars produced by slow pyrolysis at 400-450°C for the biological substrates namely, Coccus nucifera shells (CNS) and Prosopis glandulosa hard wood (PGH). Biochar yield of the biomass substrates varied from 25-28 %. C/N ratio and Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) was found to be higher in PGH biochar as 11.25 and 16.70 cmolkg -1 respectively.

The use of Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) as a source of biofuel is documented. The physiological characteristics and growth studies of Jatropha have received less attention. In the present study, we measured leaf gas exchange with an infrared gas analyzer for red (immature) and green (mature) leaves of Jatropha curcas in response to various environmental conditions including photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD), vapor pressure difference, and temperature.
