The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of AR to benzimidazoles (BZ), macrocyclic lactones (ML) and imidazothiazoles represented by levamisole (LEV) in the Polish goat herds by using an in vitro larval development test, which is useful especially in large-scale epidemiological surveys.

Prophylactic anthelmintic treatment with one of three basic classes of anthelmintics (benzimidazoles, macrocyclic lactones and imidazothiazoles) is still the mainstay of control of gastrointestinal nematode infections in small ruminants worldwide. As a consequence, anthelmintic resistance is a serious threat to small ruminant health and production.

Strongylid nematode infections may negatively affect both animal health and welfare, with deleterious consequences for livestock productivity. Many farmers in recent decades have relied on anthelmintics as the sole strategy of control, but the intensive use of these chemotherapeutics has led to the development of anthelmintic resistance (AR).

Leucaena leucocephala, as a shrub legume rich in condensed tannins, is a candidate for the integrated control of gastrointestinal parasitic pathogen nematodes. Here, we investigated the anthelmintic potential of the nutraceutical L. leucocephala, transformed into pellets, against Haemonchus contortus.

Gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN), liver flukes (Fasciola hepatica) and bovine lungworms (Dictyocaulus viviparus) are the most important parasitic agents in pastured dairy cattle. Endoparasite infections are associated with reduced milk production and detrimental impacts on female fertility, contributing to economic losses in affected farms.

Evaluation of anthelmintic efficacy of Nicotiana tabacum against gastrointestinal nematodes of goats
The present study was planned to evaluate the anthelmintic efficacy of crude powder (CP), crude aqueous (CAE) and crude methanolic (CME) extracts of Nicotiana tabacum leaves against common gastrointestinal nematodes of goats using three in-vitro tests viz. adult motility test (AMT), egg hatch assay (EHA) and larval paralysis test (LPT) and one invivo test using faecal egg count reduction test (FECRT). AMT was conducted against freshly collected adult Haemonchus contortus...

The present study was planned to know the status of anthelmintic resistance in gastrointestinal (GI) nematodes of two organized sheep and one goat farms of subHimalayan region of northern India using faecal egg count reduction test (FECRT). Three anthelmintics, fenbendazole (FBZ), tetramisole HCl (TMS) and ivermectin (IVM) of benzimidazole, imidazothiazole and macrocyclic lactone groups, respectively were tested at each farm.

A study was set out to investigate the distribution of gastrointestinal nematode parasites in sheep farms of Hassan district, Karnataka and to ascertain which species are involved in the anthelmintic resistance. In the study 26 farms were treated with fenbendazole and 19 farms were treated with ivermectin. The pre and post treatment faecal cultures were prepared for each farms.

The present study was undertaken to assess the seasonal influence on the occurrence of gastrointestinal nematode diseases in an organized farm of Wayanad district of Kerala. Strongylosis was the most predominant gastrointestinal nematode followed by trichurosis and amphistomosis. Haemonchosis was the predominant strongyle infection in the farm. The first peak of eggs (strongyle) per gram of faeces (EPG) in adult goats was observed during the month of April. In kids, the first peak of EPG was observed during the period January- February.

Before perform any parasitological examination, a pre-requisite questionnaire was used to collect data from the 100 livestock holder of district Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir to evaluate the knowledge about the use of anthelmintic against worm infestation in ruminants. The study revealed that 83.00 % respondent was aware of deworming and 92.00% respondent unaware of purpose of faecal examination of their livestock. Hence, a total of 537 faecal samples comprising of 159 (cattle), 133 (sheep) and 245(goat) was collected randomly from 5 no.

Gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) in ruminants are one of the major impediments in livestock production and causes enormous economic losses. Accurate identification of GIN is essential for studying epidemiology and envisage control programme. The present study describes the generic composition of strongyle affecting goats of mid Himalayan Uttarakhand by polymerase chain reaction based restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).

A total of 60 animals which include thirty sheep and 30 goats of Charkhi Dadri district, Haryana with egg per gram of more than or equal to 150 were divided into four groups i.e. G1, G2 of goats and S1, S2 of sheep, each of 15 animals. G1 and S1 was dosed with ivermectin, recommended dose in sheep and double dose in goats. Group G2 and S2 served as untreated control. Faecal egg count on day of treatment (0 day) and 14th day post treatment were determined by the modified McMaster technique.
