The thesis consists of five chapters which aim to investigate the mechanical properties and fabricating processes of different biomedical Ti scaffolds, with the structure presented: Chapter 1 is a generalized introduction to the content of the thesis, including the background, scopes and objectives of the research. In Chapter 2, a comprehensive literature review is presented. Chapter 3 presents the design and fabrication of the Ti scaffolds. In Chapter 4, the mechanical properties of the fabricated Ti scaffolds were analyzed.

This chapter is an introduction to the application layer. In the next eight chapters we introduce common client-server applications used in the Internet. In this chapter, we give a general picture of how a client-server program is designed and give some simple codes of their implementation. The area of network programming is a very vast and complicated one; it cannot be covered in one chapter. We need to give a bird’s-eye view of this discipline to make the contents of the next eight chapters easier to understand.

This thesis starts with a general introduction to power-line communication. Then an existing application, communicating on a low-voltage grid, is investigated in order to obtain some knowledge of how the power line acts as a communication channel. A computer system is generally composed of hardware and software. Hardware make up the physical components. Software make up the set of instructions for the computer. Without software, the computer will not be able to perform the tasks that you would like it to do. A summary is presented of some results in the literature concerning the generative powers of various formal grammars. The relative generative powers are displayed graphically.I. Introduction Many forms of grammars have been proposed in the study of such related language problems as mechanical translation, computer languages, mathematical linguistics, and the more general characterizations of natural languages.

Given a compact four dimensional manifold, we prove existence of conformal metrics with constant Q-curvature under generic assumptions. The problem amounts to solving a fourth-order nonlinear elliptic equation with variational structure. Since the corresponding Euler functional is in general unbounded from above and from below, we employ topological methods and min-max schemes, jointly with the compactness result of [35]. 1.

In this paper we will prove the Calabi-Yau conjectures for embedded surfaces (i.e., surfaces without self-intersection). In fact, we will prove considerably more. The heart of our argument is very general and should apply to a variety of situations, as will be more apparent once we describe the main steps of the proof later in the introduction.

By means of the Hardy-Littlewood method, we apply a new mean value theorem for exponential sums to confirm the truth, over the rational numbers, of the Hasse principle for pairs of diagonal cubic forms in thirteen or more variables. 1. Introduction Early work of Lewis [14] and Birch [3], [4], now almost a half-century old, shows that pairs of quite general homogeneous cubic equations possess non-trivial integral solutions whenever the dimension of the corresponding intersection is suitably large (modern refinements have reduced this permissible affine dimension to 826; see [13]). ...

Let k be a local field, and Γ ≤ GLn (k) a linear group over k. We prove that Γ contains either a relatively open solvable subgroup or a relatively dense free subgroup. This result has applications in dynamics, Riemannian foliations and profinite groups. Contents 1. Introduction 2. A generalization of a lemma of Tits 3. Contracting projective transformations 4. Irreducible representations of non-Zariski connected algebraic groups 5. Proof of Theorem 1.3 in the finitely generated case 6. Dense free subgroups with infinitely many generators 7.
