Fruit set after successful pollination is key for the production of sweet cherries, and a low fruit-setting rate is the main problem in production of this crop. As gibberellin treatment can directly induce parthenogenesis and satisfy the hormone requirement during fruit growth and development, such treatment is an important strategy for improving the fruit-setting rate of sweet cherries.

The Chinese Chenghua pig (CHP) is a typical Chinese domestic fatty pig breed with superior meat quality characteristics, while the Yorkshire pig (YP) has the characteristics of fast growth and a high rate of lean meat. The method has considered 13 different olive accessions originated from the genetic and phytosanitary selection process. An investigation had been taken up to assess few rice genotypes for their inclusion in breeding programme to develop varieties suitable for aerobic cultivation. The experiment was carried out at the experimental field of Sarat Chandra Sinha College of Agriculture, Assam Agricultural University, Dhubri. Evaluation of fifteen rice genotypes, comprising ten traditional cultivars and five high yielding varieties both in aerobic and irrigated lowland situations revealed sufficient variability and interaction of the genotypes with the environment.

The physiological role of sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol (SQDG) in photosynthesis was investigated with a SQDG defective mutant (hf-2) of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii that did not have any detectable amount of SQDG. The mutant showed a lower rate of photosystem II (PSII) activity by 40% and also a lower growth rate than those of the wildtype. Results of genetical analysis of hf-2 strongly suggest that the SQDG defect and the lowered PSII activity are due to a single gene mutation.
