Genetic diversity among wheat

Xem 1-13 trên 13 kết quả Genetic diversity among wheat
  • Sequence exchange between homologous chromosomes through crossing over and gene conversion is highly conserved among eukaryotes, contributing to genome stability and genetic diversity. A lack of recombination limits breeding efforts in crops; therefore, increasing recombination rates can reduce linkage drag and generate new genetic combinations.

  • The SSR technique was used to reveal the genetic diversity among wheat (Triticum aestivum) and its wild relatives and secondly to test the hybridity of wheat (Triticum aestivum) F1s. All the thirteen SSR primers showed 100% polymorphism and except one, all the primers generated unique bands, so these primers can be used for genotype identification. Also four primers showed heterozygous nature of F1s by giving two bands, one from each parent at a particular locus, so these markers can be used for screening purpose also.

  • Assessment of genotype diversity was studied using released and in pipeline genotypes of wheat, of these 22 were released and 14 were in pipeline . Genetic diversity among 36 wheat genotypes was studied using Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis. 21 RAPD primers (RPI primers) were used for screening 36 wheat genotypes from which 2,868 fragments were amplified. It was observed that 63.3% bands were polymorphic and 36.4% were monomorphic. The percent of polymorphic bands in banding pattern was calculated and it was highest in RPI-22 (81.3%) while lowest was recorded in RPI-2 (33.

  • The present investigation was carried out to analyse for the presence of α-amylase inhibitor gene which is responsible for resistance to rice weevil. A total of 30 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were used to study the genetic diversity among 30 wheat genotypes resistant to rice weevil. Among them, seventeen primers were found polymorphic on agarose gel and depicted the significant diversity among susceptible and resistant genotypes while rest thirteen primers were found monomorphic.

  • In order to analyze combining ability for yield and some of its associated characters in late sown condition in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.em. Thell), the present experiment was carried out performing diallel analysis following Griffing (1956) Method II Model I. Ten genetically diverse parents were selected and crossed in half diallel fashion excluding reciprocals. These parents were evaluated along with their 45 F1’s and 45 F2’s in a randomized block design with 3 replications.

  • Genetic diversity and the association of the target traits with other traits are the foundation for any crop improvement programme. 308 genotypes of spring wheat reference set (SWRS) were evaluated in simple lattice during crop-season 2015-16 to study genetic diversity and, character association. Phenotypic data were recorded on 15 nutrients and grain yield traits. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among all the genotypes.

  • Bread wheat is most cultivated cereal used as food over 95% of the population. Twenty wheat genotypes were assayed to study the genetic diversity using molecular markers. The seventy-five alleles were identified with a mean of 2.34 alleles per locus using 32 SSR markers. Majority of SSR markers showed a high level of polymorphism. PIC values ranged from 0.05 (WMS-169) to 0.75 (CWM-107), with an average of 0.38 per primer. The RP value of primer ranges from 0.92 (WMC-177) to 1.94 (WMS-169) with an average value of 1.51, which explains the ability of primers to resolve the studied germplasm.

  • Wheat is the most important cereal grain crop in the world and is an important dietary nutritional source. High genetic variability is the prerequisite for the genetic improvement of traits. Yield and yield components can be increased by studying the diversity between genotypes and successfully utilizing them in selection and hybridization program. Fifteen wheat germplasm were taken in this study and evaluated for genetic diversity analysis.

  • Inter Simple Sequence Repeats, the PCR based technique was used to reveal the genetic diversity among wheat and its wild relatives. DNA profiling of 27 wheat genotypes at all the existing ploidy levels (diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid) was done using ISSR primers. All the primers were polymorphic. The primers resulted in the amplification of 73 bands out of which 17 bands were unique. Unique bands resulted in case of all the primers. According to these 4 ISSR primers genetic similarity value was observed ranging from 0 to 1, the highest genetic similarity value (1.

  • The present investigation was carried out with 32 diverse genotypes of bread wheat in completely randomized block design with 3 replications at Norman E. Borlaug Crop Research Centre, G.B. Pant University of agriculture & Technology Pantnagar for screening the genetic diversity for yield and physiological traits under normal sown condition. The observations were recorded on 16 agronomic traits and 3 physiological traits. The statistical analysis for genetic divergence was done using Mahalanobis-D 2 statistics and clustering of genotypes was done using Tocher method.

  • Genetic diversity analysis of nine varieties of wheat (Triticum aestivum) was evaluated using 14 SSR markers. A genetic relationship was studied by calculating the genetic distances using an un-weighted pair-group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA) subprogram of NTSYS-PC software. The cluster analysis shows that the most closely related varieties were V6 (GW1255) and V9 (GW366); V4 (GW11) and V8 (GW273), V1 (GW503) and V3 (GW451) respectively. V7 (GW173) and V3 (GW451) were the most distinct varieties among all the 9 varieties analyzed in this study.
