Genotypes through D2 analysis

In the present study, 22 tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) genotypes were evaluated to study the extent of genetic diversity through 20 quantitative traits. The genotypes were categorized into 5 distinct clusters using D2 statistics. Cluster I had the maximum number of genotypes (8), followed by clusters IV and V (4 genotypes each) and clusters II and III (3 genotypes each).

Thirty five mungbean genotypes were evaluated to select superior parents with genetic diversity based on yield and physiological traits in order to develop high yielding varieties in mungbean. The results of multivariate analysis (D2 ) indicated the presence of considerable genetic divergence among these genotypes.

Genetic divergence of 100 sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) advanced breeding lines was assessed using Mahalanobis's D2 method and the lines were grouped into 12 clusters. Cluster-I was the biggest with 76 genotypes followed by cluster-III with 14 genotypes. Ten clusters (Cluster II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII) were solitary in nature.

The nature and magnitude of genetic divergence was estimated in 35 genotypes of tomato using Mahalanobis D2 – statistics. The genetic material revealed considerable amount of diversity for all the characters investigated. All the genotypes were grouped into 4 clusters. Maximum number of genotypes was accommodated in cluster III.

Genetic variability and D2 analysis for yield and quality traits in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)
Forty two genotypes of tomato including four check cultivar (GT-2, GT-6, JT-3 and Pusa Ruby) were planted in Randomized Block Design, during rabi 2018 and were assessed to know the nature and magnitude of variability and genetic divergence for twelve traits. The experimental results revealed a wide range of variability for all the traits under study.

Eleven genotypes of chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) were investigated to understand the extent of genetic diversity through 16 growth and yield attributing characters. Genetic diversity in chilli genotypes based on sixteen characters was estimated using Mahalanobis’s D2 statistics. The genotypes were grouped into four different clusters by non-hierarchical clustering. The cluster I had the maximum number (7) of genotypes while cluster III and IV each contained only one genotype. Cluster II and III had highest inter cluster distance (249.759) followed by cluster III and IV (239.433).

A study on genetic diversity was conducted with 29 Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) genotypes through Mohalanobis’s D2 analysis. Cluster analysis was used for grouping of 29 chilli genotypes and the genotypes were fallen into six clusters. The maximum number of 22 genotypes was included in cluster-I followed by cluster-III with 3 genotypes, Cluster-II, IV, V and VI had one genotype each.

Twenty four tomato genotypes were evaluated during June to September 2018 at Horticulture College and Research Institute, Periyakulam with an aid to estimate genetic diversity for 15 quantitative and qualitative characters.
