Fusarium oxysporum f. Sp lycopersici is the causal organism that causes wilt disease in tomato all over the world. The antifungal activity of aqueous extract of neem leaf (5%), ginger bulb (5%), Lantana camara (5%), Trichoderma harzianum (5%), carbendazim (0.01%) and combination of carbendazim+T. harzianum (0.01+5%) was investigated against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp lycopersici in vitro. The least growth of pathogen was recorded in Carbendazim (treated control) (94.00) followed by Neem leaf (35.20) followed by Lantana camara (31.11), ginger bulb (26.

Rhizome rot and yellows caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Zingiberi, is a serious a serious soil-borne disease of ginger and found to be prevalent in the north-east region of India. Most of the plant disease resistance (R) genes encode a highly conserved nucleotide binding site and leucine-rich repeat structure (NBS-LRR).

The present study was conducted to evaluate bacterial endophytes against Pythium spp. causing soft rot of ginger. Water soaked lesions at the emerging base and the collar region was the typical symptoms observed on infected plants. Sprout appeared pale yellowish and withering off of plant was seen and such rhizomes were rotten and emitted foul smell in which diseased plants came off with a gentle pull.

The present study was conducted to detect the presence of phytochemicals in plant extracts pertaining to Meghalaya and their efficacy against Alternaria brassicicola, a causal agent of black leaf spot of cauliflower. Phytochemical screening of plant extracts studied showed that winged prickly ash and ginger had almost all the phytochemicals tested but least phytochemicals was observed in black pepper. Phytochemicals such as alkaloids and flavonoids were presence in almost all plant extracts.

Stem-end rot of mango caused by Lasiodiplodia theobromae and Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae is a major post-harvest problem in Manipur and reduces yield. An experiment on antifungal efficacy of three plant extracts viz., Garlic (Allium sativum), Neem (Azadirachta indica) and Ginger (Zingiber officinale) was done through poisoned food technique by taking three concentrations in in vitro conditions against the pathogens and eight Trichoderma isolates viz., T. ovalisporum (KU904456), T. koningiopsis (KU904460), T. harzianum (KU904458), T. atroviride (KU933472), T. harzianum (KU933474), T.

This study focused its investigation on the use of the essential oil of a culinary and medicinal plant commonly used in Cameroon, Curcuma longa also called red ginger for the protection of white yam (Discorea rotoundata) during storage. The oil was obtained by hydro distillation using Clevenger apparatus with a yield of 0.26%, the chemical composition analysis revealed a predominance of oxygenated sesquiterpens (OST 63.43%) with as major compound α-bisabolol (42.87%), E-β-santalol (15.3%), β-cymene (8.22%).

I spent eight years as a research biochemist. Throughout that time I lived with Sam, a large, ginger neutered tom cat. He had moved in with no fur on his belly and back legs – apparently as a result of fleas – and a medicine cabinet of powerful and expensive steroids. I decided that if fleas were causing Sam’s baldness then I would deal with them rather than spend my meagre funds on cat steroids. So I bought him a flea collar and dusted him down with flea powder. Before long his fur had grown back....
