Ginger powder

Bồng Nga truật, or Fingerroot, (Boesenbergia rotunda (L.) Mansf syn. Boesenbergia pandurata (Roxb.) Schltr.), also known as Ngải bún, is a common ginger species in Mekong Delta. Its tuber roots and rhizomes are often used to cook rice noodles as an alternative to Tumeric (Curcuma longa L.). This study was to primarily describe morphological and microanatomical figures of Bồng Nga truật, together with characteristic figures in rhizome and tuber root powder.

The effect of different ginger powder (GP) concentrations ranged between 0% and 1.25% on oxidative stability, rheological, and sensory characteristics of mayonnaise were studied during 20 weeks storage period. The pH value significantly (P < 0.05) decreased with increasing storage period.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of phytobiotics on carcass characteristics of Nandanam broiler-3 chicken. A total of 120 day-old Nandanam broiler-3 chicks were randomly allotted into four treatments with three replicates each 10 chicks. The dietary treatments were formulated as control fed with basal diet (T1) and basal diet supplemented with 0.50 % ginger powder (T2) or garlic paste (T3) or turmeric powder (T4).

The present study was conducted to develop a meat analog which satisfies the need of meat for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Meat analog is a product produced from vegetarian ingredients but it resembles the meat in both nutritional and sensory characteristics. Meat analog was prepared from mushroom as a base, blended with different proportions of paneer and wheat gluten flour. Gluten flour was used as texturizing agent and spices such as ginger, garlic, coriander powder, pepper, chilli powder and salt were used for flavouring the product.

The 140 day old „Vencob-400‟ chicks, which were divided into seven treatment groups with four replicates per group (Five chicks per replicate) i.e. 20 chicks per treatment groups. Dietary treatments consisted of basal diet T0 (Control), T1, T2 and T3 with T4, T5 and T6consist of 1, 2 and 3 per cent cinnamon while 1, 2 and 3 per cent ginger, respectively. Body weight and feed consumption were recorded at weekly interval. Feed conversion ratio, dressing percentage, economics of broiler production were calculated.

The present study was carried out to understand the dietary ginger, garlic and fenugreek on growth performance on Litopenaeus vannamei L. Vannamei was fed with three different herbal powder of ginger, garlic and fenugreek of varying levels of 1%, 2.5%, 5%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% of concentrations respectively to assess the optimal growth promoting potential. The feeding trial was continued for 63 days with triplicates in each treatment. The growth parameters (ABW, weight gain, SGR), feed efficiency parameters (FCR) and survival rate were significantly (P ginger > fenugreek > control.

Ginger powder with high antioxidant activity, phenols, crude fibre and ash content was utilized for the preparation of ginger appetizing functional tablets. The flow properties of ginger powder categorized it good on the basis of carr compressibility (12.28%) and hausner ratio (1:1.14) and excellent (27o ) on the basis of angle of repose. The tablets were prepared by wet granulation method with varying concentrations of ginger powder (5g to 30g) using gulkand as natural binding agent and hypertonic sugar syrup.

I spent eight years as a research biochemist. Throughout that time I lived with Sam, a large, ginger neutered tom cat. He had moved in with no fur on his belly and back legs – apparently as a result of fleas – and a medicine cabinet of powerful and expensive steroids.
