Ebook The families and genera of vascular plants - Volume XIII: Flowering plants, monocots (Poaceae)
Ebook "The families and genera of vascular plants - Volume XIII: Flowering plants, monocots (Poaceae)" is the outcome of a modern phylogenetic analysis of the grass family based on multiple sources of data, in particular molecular systematic studies resulting from a concerted effort by researchers worldwide, including the author. In the classification given here grasses are subdivided into 12 subfamilies with 29 tribes and over 700 genera. The keys and descriptions for the taxa above the rank of genus are hierarchical, i.e.

The Poaceae family is of great importance to human beings since it comprises the cereal grasses which are the main sources for human food and animal feed. With the rapid growth of genomic data from Poaceae members, comparative genomics becomes a convinent method to study genetics of diffierent species.

As global warming continues, heat stress (HS) is becoming an increasingly significant factor limiting plant growth and reproduction, especially for cool-season grass species. The objective of this study was to determine the transcriptional regulatory network of Cleistogenes songorica under HS via transcriptome profiling, identify of gene families and comparative analysis across major Poaceae species.

Sugarcane, (Saccharum officinarum) L., is one of the several species of tall perennial true grasses of the genus Saccharum. Sugarcane is the source of sugar in all tropical and subtropical countries of the world that belongs to family Poaceae. The various physical parameters of sugarcane crops such as Length, diameter of cane and node distance, were studied in Kawardha district, (C.G.).

Maize (Zea mays L.) a member of grass family, poaceae (gramineae) having 2n = 2x = 20 chromosomes is one of the most important cereal crops of India. Mexico and Central America are the origin place of this crop. It has more than thirty-two thousand genes in its genome and the size of genome is about 2.3 gigabase. The objective of this study was to evaluate seventy-seven maize genotypes in relation to heritability and genetic advance for fourteen quantitative traits.

The grass family (Poaceae), ca. 12,075 species, is a focal point of many recent studies that aim to use complete plastomes to reveal and strengthen relationships within the family. The use of Next Generation Sequencing technology has revealed intricate details in many Poaceae plastomes; specifically the trnI - trnL intergenic spacer region.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important cereal crop belonging to the grass family Poaceae. An experiment was conducted during Kharif 2017 and 2018 to know the impact of nine fungicide treatments. Among nine treatments, Azoxystrobin 18.2 % w/w +Difenoconazole 11.4% w/w SC @ 1.0 g/L and Trifloxystrobin 25% + Tebuconazole 50% WG @ 0.4 g/L were on par with each other with least pooled leaf blast disease index of 20.03% and 20.90% and neck blast disease incidence of 16.48% and 16.93% respectively followed by Tricyclazole 75% WP @ 0.6 g/L.

Teff (Eragrostis tef) grass is a minor millet belonging to grass family Poaceae. Being a minor-millet it can withstand adverse conditions of soil and climatic factors. Ethiopia is the major teff grass producing country, a staple food for most of the population of the country. Today’s world is more concerned about healthy life which depends on consumption of nutritionally rich food products. Teff is nutritionally rich millet as compared to other cereals and is gluten free, can be substituted for wheat which causes celiac disease due to gluten protein.

Cereals are the member of grasses, which belong to family Gramineae (Poaceae) and cultivated for edible components of their grain which is composed of the endosperm, germ and bran. Cereal grains are grown in greater quantities and provide more food energy worldwide than any other type of crop. In their natural form, they are a rich source of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, minerals and fats. The green revolution of the 1970s resulted in remarkable increases in rice production. Since then the rate of production in most rice growing countries has slowed and has now reached a plateau.
