Fruit borer, Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) is a persistent pest on okra among fruit borer complex throughout India. Experiments were undertaken to investigate the persistence of spinetoram 12 SC against larval stage of H. armigera in the laboratory and to evaluate the effectiveness in the field in two seasons.

Experiments were carried out to determine the insecticidal activity of Aegle marmelos Correa against Callosobruchus chinensis L. in the laboratory. Plants were extracted with petroleum ether, methanol, ethanol and water by using Soxhlet apparatus and tested against adult of C. chinensis. Plant extracts were showed insecticidal activity by affecting through mortality, oviposition deterrence and inhibition of F1 adult emergence.

This resulted in exploration of new alternatives with lesser residues and lower environment threat. One such thing is exploring the opportunities of using ecofriendly insecticides such as Bacillus thuringiensis (Berliner), Beauveria bassiana and NSKE 5% which can provide alternative, eco-friendly options to control this insect pest (Jeyarani and Karuppuchamy, 2010). Keeping in view, the present study was undertaken to evaluate the field efficacy of green insecticides against H. armigera.

Sucking pests have become a serious problem in Bt cotton. The cotton aphid and mealybug reduces its yield to the extent of 30-40 per cent and 40-50 per cent, respectively. In this context an investigation was carried out on synthesis of silica nanoparticles from rice husk and its impact against cotton aphid and mealybug during 2017-18 at centre for nanotechnology lab, UAS Raichur. For comparison purposes, metal silica nanoparticles and dinotefuran 20% SG was used as an insecticide.

Now a day’s nanotechnology has become one of the most promising approaches in pest management. Nanoparticles represent a new generation of environmental remediation technologies that provide cost–effective solution to some of the most challenging insect pests. S.litura (F.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a major polyphagous pest of field crops and vegetables, causing severe damage to the plants in all phenological crop stages.

Chilli is an economically important and widely cultivated crop of India. Chilli leaf curl disease complex is one of the major limiting factors in chilli production which is drastically decrease yield. The crop grown in Jharkhand usually suffers seriously from this disease. A field experiment on integration of insecticides as soil application with one and/or two sprayings each of other insecticides viz. Imidacloprid 17.8% SL @ 0.003%, Spinosad 45 % SC@160 ml/ha and neem products viz., Neem Seed Kernel extract (NSKE 5%) @ 5ml/ litre and Neem oil 0.

This book is part of the Green Chemistry series published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, and is designed to provide a modern overview of the current status of insecticides. We present the current approaches for insect pest control as green alternatives to classical agrochemicals, which should be of interest to a vast group of researchers: agrochemists, biochemists, chemists, toxicologists, etc. Throughout the book, the different approaches to pest control which involve ‘‘greener chemicals’’ in particular are emphasized.
