The paddy area has significantly increased from 1997 to 2018 based on our research study. On the whole, there was a significant increase in the area of paddy, apart from groundnut, sugarcane and other crops grown indifferent mandals in the four districts located under the TGP command. The results based on our research study are useful to the Government for efficient crop planning in different districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is an important edible oilseed crop in the country next to groundnut and soybean. One of the major factors for reduction in area of the crop is being attributed to the occurrence of fungal and viral diseases like sunflower necrosis disease (SND) and Sunflower leaf curl virus (SuLCV) resulting in yield loss in most of the sunflower growing regions of Southern and Northern India. In Karnataka, SuLCV has been reported to occur in almost all the popular sunflower hybrids grown during kharif, rabi and summer seasons with varied intensity.

Changes in quality of host plants under elevated CO2 (eCO2) conditions likely in future can affect the survival, growth and development, and population dynamics of insect herbivores. The present study aimed to examine the growth and development of leaf feeding Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) (Noctuidae: Lepidoptera) reared on groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) grown under elevated CO2 condition in open top chambers at Main Agricultural Research Station (MARS), University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, Karnataka, India.

Groundnut is an important oil seed crop largely grown under rainfed conditions in India. Uneven distribution and or failure of monsoon rain affects the plant growth and reduces the productivity When crop is subjected to water stress it closes the stomata leading to reduced photosynthesis. Detection of plant water stress and assessing the possible effect on the growth and yield of crop is often difficult and challenging.

Groundnut is the mostly grown commercial oilseed for millions of small scale farmers in the semi-arid topics and under rainfed conditions in Andhra Pradesh. The productivity of groundnut grown under rainfed situation is declining from the actual production of 1.23 m t to the lowest yield of 0.8t ha-1 in India, under the crop area coverage of 1.38 m ha.

A survey was conducted in Junagadh district to know the pesticide usage pattern in groundnut during Kharif 2016-17 and 2017-18. Results showed that around 20 insecticides were available in market for pest management among them Imidicloprid was the popularly sold product during both the years followed by thiamethoxam and Coragen.

Groundnut is an important oil seed crop in India cultivated in an area of 6.7 million hectares with a production of 7.0 million tonnes annually. The crop can be grown successfully in areas receiving the rainfall ranging from 600 to 1250 mm. The best soils for groundnut crop are sandy loam, loam and medium black with good drainage system. Present practice of manual harvesting and threshing consumes huge amount of labour to a magnitude of about 175 to 200 women h ha-1The highest average effective field capacity obtained using tractor drawn groundnut digger shaker was 0.35 ha h-1 .

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oil seed crop mainly grown under rainfed situation. Due to erratic rainfall and frequent drought during the crop growth period, groundnut yields are generally low and unstable under rainfed conditions. Drought during critical crop growth stages is crucial for yield in groundnut varieties. But tolerant genotypes may give better yield due to maintenance of physiological responses that were triggered during drought.

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is one among the extensively grown oil crop and also it’s an important food legume crop in terms of area, cultivation and utilization. It contributes significantly towards food and nutrition security. This crop also contributes to improving soil fertility via biological nitrogen fixation and organic matter returns to the soil while its haulms and provide valuable supplementary feed for livestock especially during the long dry season.

Groundnut is an important oilseed crop widely consumed in India, which plays a major role in supplementing the income of farmers. The cluster frontline demonstration (CFLD) was conducted by the ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Koppal (Karnataka) with improved variety and package of practices in summer groundnut cultivation for two years (Summer, 2017-18 and 2018-19).The pod yield of summer groundnut crop was increased by demonstrating the improved variety and cultivation technologies at the farmer’s field under the supervision of scientists working in the operational area.

Use of biocontrol agents against soil borne pathogen is gaining importance in the present situation for eco-friendly management of soil borne diseases. Bioefficacy of indigenous Trichoderma spp has greater efficacy against soil borne pathogens of pulses. Native Trichoderma isolates were collected from soil rhizospheres of paddy, groundnut, brinjal and tomato grown in the Agronomy field and Central farm of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar and named as Isolate 1, Isolate 2, Isolate 3, Isolate 4, Isolate 5 respectively.

Groundnut is the major oilseed crop in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh grown in 1,40,000ha during kharif and rabi seasons. PBND and PSND are major problems in groundnut cultivation causing yield losses to the farmers. On Farm Trial on assessment of PBND and PSND tolerant groundnut variety Kadiri Amaravathi was conducted during rabi, 2018-19. In Kadiri Amaravathi variety 3.4 – 22.1% thrips damage was recorded. Whereas in Narayani variety 8.2 to 35.7% damage was recorded. Thrips damage was more at 80-100DAS i.e. during February and March months.

The present investigation was aimed to understand early infection process and plant pathogen interactions involved in tolerance and susceptibility in groundnut challenged with Sclerotium rolfsii by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The histo-pathological changes were recorded at different time intervals in two groundnut genotypes with differential reaction to stem rot disease viz., Cv: “ICGV 86590” (resistant) and Cv: “Narayani” (susceptible). These genotypes were grown in glass house and challenged with stem rot pathogen.

In general groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) crop is subjected to varied climatic conditions and monsoon vagaries in particular, as it is mostly grown under rainfed conditions during Kharif. It is necessary to select a suitable groundnut genotype and sowing window as a non-monetary input to reduce the effect of climate on crop yield. Field experiment was conducted at AHRS, Bavikere, UAHS, Shivamogga, to study the influence of sowing windows on growth and yield of groundnut genotypes under rainfed conditions during Kharif-2017 in sandy loam soil. The four groundnut genotypes viz.
