Growing rod

Bacterial filamentation occurs when rod-shaped bacteria grow without dividing. To identify genetically encoded inhibitors of division that promote filamentation, we used cell sorting flow cytometry to enrich filamentous clones from an inducible expression library, and then identified the cloned DNA with high-throughput DNA sequencing. We applied the method to an expression library made from fragmented genomic DNA of uropathogenic E. coli UTI89, which undergoes extensive reversible filamentation in urinary tract infections and might encode additional regulators of division.

Progressive Early-Onset Scoliosis (EOS) in children may lead to surgical interventions with growthfriendly implants, which require repeated lengthening procedures in order to allow adequate growth. Quality of life was studied using the validated German version of the EOS-Questionnaire (EOSQ-24-G) in surgically treated EOS children with different lengthening modalities.

To assess the relationship between mechanical wear and the failure of the internal lengthening mechanism in retrieved MAGnetic Expansion Control (MAGEC) growing rods. Methods: This study included 34 MAGEC rods retrieved from 20 patients. The state of the internal mechanism and mechanical wear were assessed in all the rods using plain radiographs and visual inspection.

A total of 50 PPFM’s were isolated from rhizosphere soil and phyllosphere of direct seeded rice regions of Hyderabad-Karnataka. Samples of leaves and rhizosphere soils were collected from direct seeded rice grown in different location (Raichur district, Bellary district, Koppal district and Yadgir district). Thereafter, all the classical recommended methods used for identification of all the obtained isolates were carried out including, morphological, microscopical as well as biochemical characteristics. The results revealed that all the isolates were gram negative, rod shaped, motile.
