Deficiency of micronutrients during the last three decades has grown in both, magnitude and extent. This has become a major constraint to production and productivity of vegetables in general and onion in particular. Bhonde et al., (1995) evaluated the effect of zinc, copper and boron on onion crop. Bulb size and yield as well as quality of bulb enhanced when micronutrients were applied in combinations instead of their single application.micronutrients, Zinc and Boron, Quality of Onion

Considering the importance of micronutrients and bio regulators in determining quality production of onion, the present investigation was undertaken. The experiment laid out in RBD with twenty-seven treatments in three replications. Micronutrients like Fe and Zn added in to the soil through alone and combination with FYM and cow dung slurry as per treatment. Fe and Zn also applied through foliar spraying alone and combination with amino acid, GA3 and 2-4-D.

Lack of recommended or released variety of high yielding as well as good keeping quality in the country, it creates price fluctuation during off season arrival period. To meet out the domestic requirement and also to fulfil the export demand, selection of high yielding genotype under different agro climatic condition is necessary.

Field experiments were conducted during kharif 2016 and rabi 2016-17 at Research and Development farm of Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., Udumalpet with seven treatments comprising of two irrigation (100% and 150% ETc) and three fertigation levels (75%, 100% and 125% RDF) in addition, surface irrigation method as a check for aerobic rice. For onion crop also seven treatments were setup with reducing water levels to 75% and 100% ETc from that of rice water levels by keeping same fertigation levels. The furrow irrigation was maintained as check.
