Growth performance and carcass traits

Modern breeding in the poultry industry mainly aims to produce high-performance poultry lines and breeds in two main directions of productivity, meat and eggs. To understand more about the productive potential of lowly selected Chinese native chicken populations, we selected 14 representative SNP markers strongly associated with growth traits or carcass traits and 14 SNP markers strongly associated with egg laying traits through previous reports.

The experiment was a 2x3 factorial design. The first factor was the duck’s growing periods with split phases (5-8 weeks old and 9-12 weeks old) and whole phase (5-12 weeks old). The second factor was the sex of birds, with three treatments, male birds, female birds and balanced for sex.

The effects of safflower oil and vitamin C (Vit. This study was conducted to find out the efficacy of probiotic (Bacillus subtilis) on growth performance and carcass traits of broiler birds. The experiment followed completely randomized design in which the day old broiler chicks (n=180) were divided into 4 dietary treatment groups (T1-T4) as 3 replicates of 15 chicks in each.

The study was conducted at Livestock farm, Adhartal, College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, N.D.V.S.U., Jabalpur (M.P.) for five months. A total of 21 crossbred pigs (about 4 months of age) were selected and randomly distributed in three different groups (G1, G2 and G3) each group containing seven animals. Diets were formulated as per ICAR (2013) standard.

A study was conducted to the effect of garlic with two different levels on the growth performances and carcass characteristics of NandanamBroiler-2. A total of 84 day old NandanamBroiler-2 chicks were randomly allotted into three treatments with two replicates which contained 14 chicks in each replicate for 8 weeks experimental period. The dietary treatments were formulated as a control (T1), 0.25 % (T2), 0.50% (T3) garlic paste with basal diet. The data on production parameters like weekly body weight, feed consumption and mortality were recorded.
