Chlorella vulgaris was autotrophically grown in a Flat-Plate Photobioreactor (FPPB) using batch (BC), fed-batch (FB), and repeated fed-batch (RPF) cultivations. BC stage was done in the 20 L of working volume. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Walne media (with various concentrations of composition) and cultural techniques on algal growth.

In this paper, we present an experimental study on electroless nickel plating for applications in microbolometers. The study starts from an optimization of the electroless plating bath for depositing nickel on aluminum surface and ends up at the controlled growth of nickel micropillars on selected areas with the masking layer patterned by a conventional optical lithography process.

Bacterial chondronecrosis with osteomyelitis (BCO) develops in the growth plate (GP) of the proximal femur and tibia and is initiated by damage to the less mineralized chondrocytes followed by colonization of opportunistic bacteria.

Chondrogenesis is the earliest stage of skeletal development and is a highly dynamic process, integrating the activities and functions of transcription factors, cell signaling molecules and extracellular matrix proteins. The molecular mechanisms underlying chondrogenesis have been extensively studied and multiple key regulators of this process have been identified. However, a genome-wide overview of the gene regulatory network in chondrogenesis has not been achieved.

The cn/cn dwarf mouse is caused by a loss-of-function mutation in the natriuretic peptide receptor 2 (NPR-2) gene which helps positively regulate endochondral longitudinal bone growth. The gene mutation corresponds to that in the human skeletal dysplasia Acromesomelic Dysplasia Maroteaux type (AMDM).

Abnormal longitudinal growth has been identified in the early pubertal stage of idiopathic scoliosis (IS) and is thought to contribute to the development of scoliosis. This phenotype may be caused by abnormal endochondral ossification, but histological evidence is lacking.

Orthopaedic implant infections are difficult to eradicate because bacteria adhering to implant surfaces inhibit the ability of the immune system and antibiotics to combat these infections. Thermal cycling is a temperature modulation process that improves performance and longevity of materials through molecular structural reorientation, thereby increasing surface uniformity.

Avulsion fractures of the pelvic apophyses typically occur in adolescent athletes due to a sudden strong muscle contraction while growth plates are still open. The main goals of this systematic review with metaanalysis were to summarize the evidence on clinical outcome and determine the rate of return to sports after conservative versus operative treatment of avulsion fractures of the pelvis.

Leptin plays an important role in mediating chondrogenesis of limb growth plate. Previous studies suggest that bone structures and development of spine and limb are different. The expression of Ob-Rb, the gene that encodes leptin receptors, is vertebral and appendicular region-specific, suggesting the regulation of leptin on VGP and TGP chondrogenesis may be very different.

Light is an important factor deciding about yielding and morphological characters of Pleurotus carpophores. The objective of the research was to ascertain the impact of different light periods on radial growth of Pleurotus djamor, the pink oyster. The culture of P.djamor in petri plates were exposed to varying light period viz.6h light 18h darkness,9h light 15h darkness,12h light 12h darkness,18h light 6h darkness,15h light 9h darkness,24h light 0h darkness, respectively. Maximum growth of 75.

The switch from cartilage template to bone during endochondral ossification of the growth plate requires a dynamic and close interaction between cartilage and the developing vasculature. Vascular invasion of the primarily avascular hypertrophic chondrocyte zone brings chondroclasts, osteoblast- and endothelial precursor cells into future centres of ossification.

Three bio-agents i.e. Trichoderma viridae, Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma aspergillum were evaluated against Botrytis cinerea under in vitro condition. Culture disc of fungal bio-agents and pathogen were taken from the growing cultures and transferred to PDA contained in 70 mm petridishes on opposite sides approximately at one cm from the wall of the plate. Among these three bio-gents Trichodema harzianum showed best mycelial growth inhibition of Botrytis cinerea.

Kunun-zaki are locally produced beverages which of recent have become popular among the various non-alcoholic drinks in the northern part of Nigeria; Viable bacterial counts were taken before and after the addition of soymilk on MRS agar plates after incubating anaerobically at 37 °C for 48 hours. Distinct colonies were purified for identification. kunun-zaki was fortified with soymilk, and subjected to sensory tests after 48h of incubation.

Replant disease is a major problem of apple orchards, which is a main cash crop in TransHimalayan region. The cause of this replant problem includes both biotic and abiotic factors, such as low nutrients, phytotoxins, actinomycetes, fungal complexes and nematodes. Fungi and oomycetes belonging to the well-known root rot complex are important factor of replant problems in apple.

The role of currency as reservoirs of pathogenic bacteria and UV light to disinfect the contaminated notes was evaluated. Two hundred currencies of different denomination were collected from different places from central part of Karnataka. The sterile swab was rolled over the currency and dipped in a falcon tube containing 10 ml of brain heart infusion broth. After 24 hours, subculture was done on Blood agar, Mac Conkey agar plates and SDA tube. After incubation for 24-48 hours, plates were examined for the growth and microorganisms were identified by standard microbiological techniques.
