A sample of 100 guava farmers selected randomly from 10 villages having highest area under guava plantation.

The number of plant parasitic nematode species associated with guava but some species are cause great losses. The accurate identification of nematode species is a basic key of successful management. Soil and plant samples collected from fields of guava from Arathwara village, Sheoganjtehsil, Sirohi district of Rajasthan, India on the GPS location 250 03’40.7”N; 720 58’05.0”E.

  • A field experiment was conducted in the guava orchard of a progressive farmer, Barehi, Allahabad Road, Rewa (M.P.) during 2015 and 2016 to study the integrated nutrient management (INM) on growth, yield and economics of guava. The INM treatment T13 (50% NPK (RDF) + 25 kg FYM + 5 kg vermicompost /tree gave maximum plant and canopy height, spread (E-W and N-S), plant girth, leaf length and width and tree volume.

  • The species diversity of Dacinae fruit flies (Bactrocera spp.) was monitored in guava growing areas in various districts of western Uttar Pradesh, India, over a 12 months period (October, 2017- September, 2018). Samples of fruit flies were collected by using methyl eugenol lure traps and infested guava fruits collected from the farmer’s orchards in fruiting season. Three species of fruit flies recorded were, Bactrocera correcta, B. dorsalis and B. zonata. In general, proportionately higher population of B. zonata was recorded form various places surveyed.

  • In fruit crops, the ripening of fruit is expressed in terms of change in its physical, physiological & biochemical parameters. Some of the relevant parameters like Size & Shape, Colour, Hardness/Softness, Texture etc. can be treated as reference for its maturity. The final stage of fruit ripening is considered to attain a maturity level of these parameters as an indicator for harvesting the fruit crop or ready to use in ripening storage units/chambers. Development of sensor-based maturity indicators can serve as important technological aid to the farmers.
