In this study, we employ MaxEnt, a widely used species distribution modeling method, to predict climatically suitable habitat for P. nemaeus at present, and then project the optimal model using a range of future climate change scenarios to understand the possible shifts in response to climate change over the entire range of the Red-shanked Douc.

Mangrove forests, typically found along tropical and subtropical coastlines, have a crucial role in preventing coastal erosion, mitigating the effects of wave actions, and safeguarding coastal habitats. This study utilized PlanetScope mangrove forests and a Combined Mangrove Recognition Index (CMRI), which was suitable for detecting mangrove cover along the coast of Tien Yen district with an overall accuracy of over 93.0% and a Kappa coefficient greater than 0.90 for the selected years.

The project's main objectives were to analyse the data obtained during geological exploration and use it to model and predict biological patterns in order to answer the main research questions: 1) Is there a statistical relationship between the environmental parameters and the benthic community composition and morphospecies observed? 2) Can predictive models be developed from this relationship? In achieving these main objectives, the project also developed recommendations for methods that could be applied during geological exploration voyages to maximise the potential use of data collected.

Competition and environmental stress are crucial factors for structuring plant population in natural habitats. Cyperus arenarius, a sedge of coastal sand dunes habitat, is a suitable species for coastal restoration and dune stabilization, but how salinity and plant density interact in affecting its growth is still unknown. Here, growth, survival, and physiological responses of C. arenarius to salinity (sea-salt) and plant density were investigated.

Connectivity among jaguar (Panthera onca) populations will ensure natural gene flow and the longterm survival of the species throughout its range. Jaguar conservation efforts have focused primarily on connecting suitable habitat in a broad-scale. Accelerated habitat reduction, human-wildlife conflict, limited funding, and the complexity of jaguar behaviour have proven challenging to maintain connectivity between populations effectively.

Within its range, the Caspian green lizard, Lacerta strigata, occurs in the Elburz Mountains (northern Iran) at elevations from below sea level to approximately 2700 m a.s.l. To determine the environmental factors affecting the distribution of this lizard, we used an ensemble approach to model the distribution of the Caspian green lizard (Lacerta strigata) in Iran using four algorithms (generalized boosted model, maximum entropy, generalized linear model, random forest).

Maintaining landscape connectivity through identifying movement corridors is the most recommended conservation strategy to reduce the negative impacts of habitat loss and isolation. The basis of most connectivity modelling approaches for modelling corridors is that species choose movement pathways based on the same criteria they used to choose habitats. However, species behave differently in using landscape elements for moving than for selecting habitat. In other words, suitability of a given landscape feature may differ between moving and habitat use stages.

Turkey is one of the most important temperate countries on Earth in terms of plant diversity. There is a growing interest in understanding habitat suitability and future distributions of species in the scientific world. Because climate change has impacted ecosystems with major consequences, species are shifting and declining much faster than in the past. Some global climate models used for predicting climate in the future better represent and have higher reliability for some climate types. Ferulago glareosa, which lives in Turkey, is a rare endemic plant species.

Genome sequence of walking catfish (Clarias batrachus) provides insights into terrestrial adaptation
Walking catfish (Clarias batrachus) is a freshwater fish capable of air-breathing and locomotion on land. It usually inhabits various low-oxygen habitats, burrows inside the mudflat, and sometimes “walks” to search for suitable environments during summer.

Niche differentiation is a prominent hypothesis explaining the maintenance of tree species diversity in tropical forests (Connell 1978). It suggests that different species are best suited to different habitats in which they are completely dominant and more abundant than in less suitable habitats (Harms et al. 2001). In addition, distribution patterns of tropical trees are generally more clumped or aggregated than random (Condit et al. 2000). Furthermore, environmental heterogeneity (difference in soil, elevation, slope, etc.

Lipases are secreted by many fungi, yeasts and bacteria. The suitable habitat to isolate lipase producing microorganisms is the oil contaminated sites. In Ujjain a very famous „Navgrah-Shani‟ Temple situated at the Triveni Ghat of Kshipra river, where devotees from all over India come and worship the lord and it is an unique oily habitat for isolation of lipase producing microorganisms. The present study was aimed to isolate, screen and identify the lipase producing fungi from the oil contaminated soil.

Surajpur Lake is a prominent wetland site in National Capital Region, India, known for its rich avifaunal and aquatic biodiversity. The present study was carried out to analyse water quality and to check the relationship among various physicochemical parameters in both temporal and spatial scales from March 2012 to February 2013. The water samples were collected from five different locations on monthly basis. Standard methods were followed for the collection, sampling and analysis for 12 physicochemical parameters. The data were analyzed using PAST (version 2.15) software.

The study did not detect the species in the north and southwest of Cat Ba Island. The study also showed that the suitable elevation of M. mulatta ranges from 0 to 150 m a.s.l. The main habitats for the species in Cat Ba national park are evergreen forests, and shrubs on limestone mountains and grassland.

The global cost of communicable diseases is expected to rise. SARS has put the world on alert. We have now Avian Flu on the watch. Recognizing the global nature of threats posed by new and re-emerging infectious diseases and the fact that many recent occurrences originated in the Asia Pacific regions, there has been an increased interest in learning and knowing about disease surveillance and monitoring progresses made in these regions. Such knowledge and awareness is necessary to reduce conflict, discomfort, tension and uneasiness in future negotiations and global cooperation....
