  • A total of 5 female dogs of varying age group were admitted at Ranchi Veterinary College in Dept. of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology for elective ovariohysterectomy. All the dogs were premedicated with Atropine sulphate, s/c @ 0.04 mg/kg b.wt. 5 min prior to each treatment. Xylazine @1 mg/kg b.wt –tramadol @ 3 mg/kg b.wt IM thereafter propofol to effect” IV 15 min later and maintained by C.R.I method of propofol @0.3 mg/kg b.wt/min. Rectal temperature and respiration rate exhibited significant alterations whereas heart rate did not show a significant variation.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate a detailed occurrence of different dermatological problems in dogs in and around Kolkata and to determine the changes in the haematological and biochemical parameters of affected dogs. During a period of 6 months 156 dogs with primary complain of dermatological discomfort were studied, out of which the maximum number of animals were affected with skin disease caused by parasites i.e. 48 (30.78%) followed by bacteria 45 (28.85%).

  • In the present study, a total of 33 clinical cases of microfilaraemic dogs various regions of Gujarat state were assessed for alterations in haemato-biochemical and mineral level changes. Microfilariae were detected using modified Knott technique and microfilariae of Dipetalonema (Acanthocheilonema) reconditum was more common (23 cases; 69.69%) than Dirofilaria immitis (10 cases; 30.30%). Apparently healthy asymptomatic ten dogs were kept as control.

  • A six year old male Dalmatian dog was presented with the history of not voiding urine and gradual distention of abdomen for three days. The dog showed fever and distended urinary bladder. Haematobiochemical findings were leukocytosis with neutrophilia and elevated BUN and creatinine. Radiography and ultrasonography showed distended urinary bladder with cystoliths. Cystocentesis followed by retrograde urohydropropulsion was performed and 350 ml of cloudy urine was collected by catheterization.

  • c A one year old intact male Dobermann dog was brought to Small Animal Surgery Out Patient ward unit at Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital with the history of acute vomition and diarrhoea for the past four days. The animal was anorectic and severely dehydrated with a congested mucous membrane. A hard-painful irregular contoured moveable mass was observed on abdominal palpation. Lateral and ventrodorsal abdominal and thoracic radiographs were taken to rule out foreign body, which revealed a radiopaque irregularly shaped foreign body at the caudal intestine.

  • The present study was undertaken to know the clinical, haemato-biochemical and therapeutic management of anaplasmosis in bovines. A total of 150 animals showing signs of tick infestation, anorexia, jaundice, anaemia with varied pyrexia were included in the present study. Around 5ml blood was collected from jugular vein aspectically for haematobiochemical estimation. For therapeutic study, Twelve anaplasmosis affected animals were randomly selected and divided into two groups consisting of six animals in each group.

  • Recumbent cow syndrome refers to cows that become recumbent and fail to rise. Five hundred and fifty six cows presented in recumbency to veterinary hospital, Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu during the period June 2015 to May 2019 were analyzed for haematobiochemical changes. There was no significant difference in the haematological values within the recumbent cows having metabolic disorders.

  • The present study was conducted on 12 dogs of either, sex, breed, aged between 1-8 years brought to T.V.C.C, Jabalpur having a diaphyseal fracture in any of the long bones i.e. Humerus, femur and tibia. The dogs were randomly divided into three equal groups irrespective of breed and sex. The radiographs in two standard views were taken to diagnose the fracture and to select optimum titanium pins. In all the three groups, the diaphyseal fractures were repaired with internal fixation using titanium elastic pin. In group I, the fracture was repaired by using the titanium pin alone.
