  • The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of various antimycoplasma drugs on haematological and biochemical changes in commercial broilers. Three hundred and twenty, day-old, unsexed broiler chicks of Vencobb strain were randomly allotted to 7 treatment groups with each treatment having 4 replicates and each replicate consisting of 10 birds. T1 served as negative control, T2-T7 groups were administered with Tylosin, Enrofloxacin, Taimulin, Erythromycin, Tilmicosin and Nizatidine whereas, T8 served as positive control group.

  • In Tirthahalli of Shivamogga District of Karnataka State, 11 Malnada Gidda cattle of different age group succumbed to toxicity and exhibited the clinical signs of anorexia, shivering, nervousness, lethargy and wobbling gait. Ailing animals were treated symptomatically with diazepam, xylazine, fluids and B-complex vitamins with administration of activated charcoal. On obtaining the history and visit to the affected area, it was evident that the animals had consumed the fruits of the plant Anamirta cocculus.

  • To investigate the changes in the haematological, serum biochemical parameters and hepato-renal biomarkers upon dietary supplementation of nano zinc oxide (nZnO) and its effect on growth performance in calves, 24 weaned (6 months age) crossbred calves were randomly distributed to four dietary plans (Control, Treatment1, Treatment2 and Treatment3). The Control(C) group was fed exclusively with basal diet; T1 was supplemented with 25ppm ZnSo4, T2 and T3 with 5ppm and 10ppm nZnO respectively, along with the basal diet. Zinc content in basal was 26.24ppm.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate a detailed occurrence of different dermatological problems in dogs in and around Kolkata and to determine the changes in the haematological and biochemical parameters of affected dogs. During a period of 6 months 156 dogs with primary complain of dermatological discomfort were studied, out of which the maximum number of animals were affected with skin disease caused by parasites i.e. 48 (30.78%) followed by bacteria 45 (28.85%).

  • The study was undertaken on Cobb-400 strain of broiler birds (n=300) reared on battery cage system with standard protocols to know the comparative efficacy of 4 commonly used coccidiostats through haematological alterations in experimentally E. tenella infected birds. Fifty day-old chicks each of T1, T2, T3 and T4 group were given coccidiostat Diclazuril (0.1%), Salinomycin (12%), Diclazuril + Salinomycin and Maduramicin (1 %) at a dose rate of 100, 50, 100+50 and 50 g/100 kg feed, respectively. Group T5 was kept as infected control and T6 as uninfected control without coccidiostat.

  • A female jersey dairy calf of three months old under intensive management presented with normal appetence but emaciation and stunted growth was diagnosed with subclinical parasitism by the tapeworm, Moniezia expansa and intestinal coccidia, Eimeria bovis diagnosed by faecal examination. Laboratory investigation revealed remarkable alterations in biochemical values however no changes in haematological values.
