Early diagnosis of sepsis and its differentiation from the noninfective SIRS is very important in order that treatment can be initiated in a timely and appropriate way. In this study we investigated standard haematological and biochemical parameters and thromboelastography (TEG) in patients who had undergone surgical resection of the oesophagus to find out if changes in any of these parameters could help in early differentiation between SIRS and sepsis development.

Garcinia species are widely used for their slimming effects via increased fat burning and suppression of satiety. However, scientific evidence for the biological effects of Garcinia atroviridis (GA) is lacking. We investigated the phytochemical composition, safety profiles, and antioxidant and antiobesity effects of methanolic extracts of Garcinia atroviridis (MeGa) in obese female rats. Repeated dose toxicity studies were conducted according to the OECD guidelines.

Theileria annulata is an important tick-borne haemoprotozoan organism affecting dairy animals worldwide including India. It causes enormous economic losses in cattle and buffaloes in terms of reduced milk production, increased infertility and high mortality rate. The present study was undertaken to estimate the various haematological changes in cattle infected with T. annulata.

Hematological changes are among the most common complications encountered in malaria. This study analyzes and statistically evaluates the hematological changes occur in complicated malaria as compared to uncomplicated malaria. The present study was conducted from January to December 2012 in SCB Medical College, Cutack of Odisha. A total of 120 severe/ complicated malaria patients and 80 uncomplicated malaria patients were investigated.

The objective of the study was to assess the changes acquired in haematological and biochemical parameters attributed to stress during slaughter in pigs. The study was conducted in twenty pigs. The blood sample was collected under aseptic condition from twenty pigs before slaughter at instructional pig farm and during slaughter from abattoir.

In contrast to other haematological cancers, mortality from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and multiple myeloma increased dramatically during the second half of the 20th century in most developed countries. This widespread upward trend remains controversial, as it may be attributable either to progressive improvements in diagnosis and certification or to increasing exposures to little-known but relevant risk factors.

An experiment was conducted to study the influence of dietary fucoidan from brown seaweeds viz., Padina tetrastromatica and Sargassum oligocystum on the innate immunity and disease resistance of fish Oreochromis mossambicus. Fucoidan was supplemented with fish feed at different concentrations such as 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3% to observe hematological changes and non-specific immunological properties for a period of 60 days.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of various antimycoplasma drugs on haematological and biochemical changes in commercial broilers. Three hundred and twenty, day-old, unsexed broiler chicks of Vencobb strain were randomly allotted to 7 treatment groups with each treatment having 4 replicates and each replicate consisting of 10 birds. T1 served as negative control, T2-T7 groups were administered with Tylosin, Enrofloxacin, Taimulin, Erythromycin, Tilmicosin and Nizatidine whereas, T8 served as positive control group.

In the present study an attempt was made to evaluate haematological as well as biochemical changes in pyometra affected bitches and was compared with control group. A total of 20 bitches of age group 6-10 years old irrespective of breed were clinically examined and diagnosed for pyometra.

In Tirthahalli of Shivamogga District of Karnataka State, 11 Malnada Gidda cattle of different age group succumbed to toxicity and exhibited the clinical signs of anorexia, shivering, nervousness, lethargy and wobbling gait. Ailing animals were treated symptomatically with diazepam, xylazine, fluids and B-complex vitamins with administration of activated charcoal. On obtaining the history and visit to the affected area, it was evident that the animals had consumed the fruits of the plant Anamirta cocculus.

To investigate the changes in the haematological, serum biochemical parameters and hepato-renal biomarkers upon dietary supplementation of nano zinc oxide (nZnO) and its effect on growth performance in calves, 24 weaned (6 months age) crossbred calves were randomly distributed to four dietary plans (Control, Treatment1, Treatment2 and Treatment3). The Control(C) group was fed exclusively with basal diet; T1 was supplemented with 25ppm ZnSo4, T2 and T3 with 5ppm and 10ppm nZnO respectively, along with the basal diet. Zinc content in basal was 26.24ppm.

Rohu fishes grown with biofloc for 120 days have been examined for the histopathological changes occurred in the intestine and kidney after infecting with Aeromonas hydrohila with 0.5 ml, 1.0 ml and 1.5 ml where 1.5X105 bacteria per ml. In the present study haematological alterations were documented after Aeromonas hydrophila infected rohu (Labeo rohita) fingerlings, fed with probiotic supplemented diets with rice bran and ground nut oil cake in biofloc with added ammonium chloride to reduce NH3.

The present study was conducted to investigate a detailed occurrence of different dermatological problems in dogs in and around Kolkata and to determine the changes in the haematological and biochemical parameters of affected dogs. During a period of 6 months 156 dogs with primary complain of dermatological discomfort were studied, out of which the maximum number of animals were affected with skin disease caused by parasites i.e. 48 (30.78%) followed by bacteria 45 (28.85%).

The study was undertaken on Cobb-400 strain of broiler birds (n=300) reared on battery cage system with standard protocols to know the comparative efficacy of 4 commonly used coccidiostats through haematological alterations in experimentally E. tenella infected birds. Fifty day-old chicks each of T1, T2, T3 and T4 group were given coccidiostat Diclazuril (0.1%), Salinomycin (12%), Diclazuril + Salinomycin and Maduramicin (1 %) at a dose rate of 100, 50, 100+50 and 50 g/100 kg feed, respectively. Group T5 was kept as infected control and T6 as uninfected control without coccidiostat.

A female jersey dairy calf of three months old under intensive management presented with normal appetence but emaciation and stunted growth was diagnosed with subclinical parasitism by the tapeworm, Moniezia expansa and intestinal coccidia, Eimeria bovis diagnosed by faecal examination. Laboratory investigation revealed remarkable alterations in biochemical values however no changes in haematological values.
