Haematological indices

The study was conducted to investigate the haematological and biochemical parameters of four indigenous duck breeds in northern Vietnam. A total of 115 blood samples of Co, Pat Lai, Na Tau, and Troi ducks were collected from Ha Noi, Lang Son, Dien Bien, and Bac Ninh provinces, respectively, for the analyses of haematological parameters (red blood cells, white blood cells, and their indices) and biochemical parameters (total protein, albumin, and globulin).

The biocompatibility of nanocomposites was assessed by haemolytic, cytotoxic, and quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) assays. FT-IR and PXRD results revealed that nanocomposites consisted of pure MOFs and PPy. Moreover, SEM results indicated their spherical morphology along with an average diameter of 190 nm. (3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay showed a concentration, and percentagedependent cytotoxic effect of the nanocomposites on some cell lines including 3T3 fibroblasts, MCF-7, and J774.A1 macrophages.

To determine the effect of using Aloe vera and Neem leaves powder on carcass characteristics and some haematological parameters in vanraja poultry birds, a total 270 a day old chicks with an average identical weight were divided into 9 treatments with 3 replicates as factorial randomized block design experiment. The birds were fed by basal diet as control diet, Aloe vera, Neem leaves powder based diet and different combinations of aloe vera and neem leaves powder.

A 7 years old female Labrador dog was presented with the history of alopecia with pruritis and inappetance for the past three months. Physical examination revealed bilateral alopecia with hyperpigmentation of skin. Thyroid function tests revealed decrease in T3 and T4 and increase in TSH values and thus indicating hypothyroidism. Haematological and other biochemical parameters were found be within normal limits except leukocytosis. Based on the laboratory findings the animal was treated with Levothyroxine sodium (Eltroxin tab) @20 μg/kg body weight PO, q 12hrs.

The present study was carried out in the thoroughbred stall housed horses maintained at College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Bhubaneswar under hot and humid climatic conditions of Odisha with an objective to determine the effect of exercise on hematological and serum biochemical indices. Blood samples were drawn from jugular veins of the animals in the morning and 30, 240 and 480 minutes after exercise and subsequently assessed for haematological and serum biochemical parameters.

The haematological studies on ethanolic leaf extract of Loranthus Bengwensis were evaluated in streptozotocin induced diabetics albino rats. The phytochemical screening of the ethanolic leaf extract showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, tannin, saponins, cardiac glycosides, phenolics, terpenoid and quinines.

Anaemia is a common complication of pulmonary tuberculosis. The precise mechanism of anaemia in pulmonary tuberculosis is not clearly known, but anaemia of inflammation as well as of Fe deficiency has been implicated. Both are common in developing countries. It is extremely difficult to distinguish anaemia of Fe deficiency from anaemia of inflammation with the haematological indices used routinely. Therefore, Fe preparations are usually prescribed for all anaemic patients irrespective of the aetiology. This approach has been questioned.
