Denosumab therapy is often used to reduce skeletal-related events in metastatic bone disease. On the other hand, there have been some instances of atypical femoral fracture in patients with metastatic bone disease treated with denosumab. In this case report, we describe a patient with metastatic bone disease due to breast cancer who had been using denosumab for 4 years to prevent skeletal-related events and suffered an atypical tibial fracture.

Identifying populations with poor muscle recovery after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is important for postoperative physical therapy. Preoperative muscle strength is a strong factor that determines postoperative muscle strength. However, this efect may depend on other factors. Thus, predictive models with interaction terms are important for accurately predicting postoperative muscle strength. This study aimed to develop a predictive model for lower muscle strength 12 months after THA which incorporates interaction terms.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) or oxidative stress has been reported with strongly involving to pathogenesis of many diseases in human. On the other hand, ROS play a critical regulation as secondary signal to maintain intracellular redox equilibrium. Basically, the antioxidant defense systems in the body counteract with overproduced ROS. However, when the redox balance is broken under severe oxidative stress conditions, it leads to tissue injuries and numerous disorders.

Many internees and nurses just look at a ventilator, as if it is a monster and show the least interest to know anything about it. On the other hand, there are many young doctors and nurses having a lot of curiosity to learn about ventilators. They search for a simple book that tells them clearly all about the mechanical ventilation. This book is meant to fulfil their requirements.
