The principal objective of this investigation "An investigation into the lexical density and readability of Non-English majored first-year students’ writing at Hanoi National University of Education" is to evaluate the lexical density and readability in the writings of first-year Mathematics-majored students with dual major in English at Hanoi National University of Education. The study shows that students can only achieve the average level of both lexical density and readability, which suggests that they need to enhance their writing skills with more complex grammar and vocabulary.

This study examines teachers’ attitudes towards the correction of spoken errors through one-to-one interviews and a belief questionnaire. It also investigates the relationship between those standpoints and their teaching practice in classroom context and accordingly suggests more effective ways to deal with students’ spoken errors. For convenience, the two terms “error” and “mistake” are used interchangeably in this study.

This article is intended to justify the possibility for promoting interactions in exercise lessons of Mathematics Education by using tests, and to clarify manners for doing it. The procedures of using tests in exercise lessons were mentioned and illustrated by specific examples. A pedagogical experiment was also conducted and its results were clearly analyzed.

It was seen that during the second phase, students were much more motivated to learn American Literature than during the first phase. On the basis of this observation, the author suggests some effective activities that teachers could present when teaching American Literature to English-major students.

A study was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of using video-recordings to improve teacher trainee microteaching and self-reflection in the course of teaching language components and skills. This research aims at investigating how students at Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) raise their reading scores after the lecturer of English assists them to study and memorize new cultural vocabulary from textbooks for 15 weeks. The following methods are implemented during carrying the research, that is, in-depth interviews for students, class observation and statistics of students’ reading scores after the research is done in class. Reliable findings are discussed profoundly and implications for teaching and learning English are recommended.
