Physiological and morphological traits of flag leaf play important roles in determining crop grain yield and biomass. In order to understand genetic basis controlling physiological and morphological traits of flag leaf, a double haploid (DH) population derived from the cross of Huaai 11 × Huadamai 6 was used to detect quantitative trait locus (QTL) underlying 7 physiological and 3 morphological traits at the pre-filling stage in year 2012 and 2013.

Plant height is a prime example of a dynamic trait that changes constantly throughout adult development. In this study we utilised a large triticale mapping population, comprising 647 doubled haploid lines derived from 4 families, to phenotype for plant height by a precision phenotyping platform at multiple time points.

Amphioxus is a model organism for vertebrate evolutionary research. The significant contrast between morphological phenotypic similarity and high-level genetic polymorphism among amphioxus populations has aroused scientists’ attention. Here we resequenced 21 amphioxus genomes to over 100X depth and mapped them to a haploid reference.

Root system architecture, as a complex trait, has gained attention due to climate change and abiotic stress pressure on crops. The incorporation of root traits in breeding objectives may enable new advances in climate-resilient crops. Here, the genetics of the seedling root system architecture in the Synthetic W7984 × Opata M85 Doubled Haploid mapping population was investigated. Three traits at the seedling stage and mature stage root and shoot biomass traits were mapped for quantitative trait loci (QTL) identification.

Mapping centromere locations in plant species provides essential information for the analysis of genetic structures and population dynamics. The centromere’s position affects the distribution of crossovers along a chromosome and the parental heterozygosity restitution by 2n gametes is a direct function of the genetic distance to the centromere.

Pyropia haitanensis is one of the most economically important mariculture crops in China. A high-density genetic map has not been published yet and quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping has not been undertaken for P. haitanensis because of a lack of sufficient molecular markers.

Sporophytic plants having gametophytic chromosome number are termed as haploid. These plants can be produced either spontaneously in nature or by in vitro or in vivo induction technique. By doubling chromosome number of haploid either spontaneously or artificially, double haploid (DH) could be produced. Double haploid are homozygous and this homozygosity is achieved in one generation by using DH production systems. This production system is used for fixation of heterosis. Genetic map construction is relatively easy with DH population.

Fusarium head blight (FHB) is a major disease of cereal crops, caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium graminearum and related species. Breeding wheat for FHB resistance contributes to increase yields and grain quality and to reduce the use of fungicides.

A genetic linkage map of the progeny population was constructed with these RAPD markers. The map contains 63 markers distributed into 9 linkage groups, which possibly correspond to the 9 haploid chromosomes of Citrus. The total maximum length of the linkage map generated in this study was 314.8 cM, with an average map distance of 5.07 cM between markers.
