This study proposes therefore to apply the transmissibility functions for modal identification of ambient vibration testing and investigates its performance in presence of harmonics. Numerical examples and an experimental test are used for illustration and validation.

The limits of current micro-scale technology is approaching rapidly. As the technology is going toward nano-scale devices, physical phenomena involved are fundamentally different from micro-scale ones. Principles in classical physics are no longer powerful enough to explicate the phenomena involved in nano-scale devices. At this stage, quantum mechanic sheds some light on those topics which cannot be described by classical physics. The primary focus of this research work is the development of an analysis technique for understanding the behavior of strongly perturbed harmonic oscillators.

This study provides comparative findings on the impact of adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) on the value relevance of reported accounting and non-accounting information in a set of six countries with a British accounting heritage but divergent harmonization paths leading up to IFRS adoption. The countries included in the sample are the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa.

The paper presents the study of high harmonics influence on power metering by static meters for active and reactive energy. The review and analysis of manufacturer’s documents and standards in the field of electricity meters testing was conducted and mathematical models for calculating active and reactive energy were identified.

The theoretical analysis of MTSM has been developed to model and simulate the signature of the sensor responses at harmonic frequencies. The signatures of the evaporation- induced deposition processes were investigated by studying the effect of the thickness and stiffness of the medium.

This thesis aimed to apply the SEM for dynamic analysis of cracked beam subjected moving harmonic force in the frequency domain. Namely, the frequency response of a cracked beam subjected to moving harmonic force is obtained explicitly and examined in dependence upon the load and crack parameters. This task is acknowledged herein spectral analysis of cracked beam subjected to moving load.

Suppose that G is a locally compact abelian group, and write M(G) for the algebra of bounded, regular, complex-valued measures under convolution. A measure µ ∈ M(G) is said to be idempotent if µ ∗ µ = µ, or alternatively if µ takes only the values 0 and 1. The Cohen-Helson-Rudin idempotent theorem states that a measure µ is idempotent if and only if the set {γ ∈ G : µ(γ) = 1} belongs to the coset ring of G, 1. Introduction Let

Let p 1 and let (X, d, μ) be a complete metric measure space with μ Borel and doubling that admits a (1, p)-Poincar´ inequality. Then there exists e ε 0 such that (X, d, μ) admits a (1, q)-Poincar´ inequality for every q p−ε, e quantitatively. 1. Introduction Metric spaces of homogeneous type, introduced by Coifman and Weiss [7], [8], have become a standard setting for harmonic analysis related to singular integrals and Hardy spaces. Such metric spaces are often referred to as a metric measure space with a doubling measure. An advantage of working...

This paper gives a quantitative version of Thurston’s hyperbolic Dehn surgery theorem. Applications include the first universal bounds on the number of nonhyperbolic Dehn fillings on a cusped hyperbolic 3-manifold, and estimates on the changes in volume and core geodesic length during hyperbolic Dehn filling. The proofs involve the construction of a family of hyperbolic conemanifold structures, using infinitesimal harmonic deformations and analysis of geometric limits.

We show that any set containing a positive proportion of the primes contains a 3-term arithmetic progression. An important ingredient is a proof that the primes enjoy the so-called Hardy-Littlewood majorant property. We derive this by giving a new proof of a rather more general result of Bourgain which, because of a close analogy with a classical argument of Tomas and Stein from Euclidean harmonic analysis, might be called a restriction theorem for the primes. 1. Introduction Arguably the second most famous result of Klaus Roth is his 1953 upper bound [21] on r3 (N ), defined 17 years...

The infinite-dimensional unitary group U(∞) is the inductive limit of growing compact unitary groups U(N ). In this paper we solve a problem of harmonic analysis on U(∞) stated in [Ol3]. The problem consists in computing spectral decomposition for a remarkable 4-parameter family of characters of U(∞). These characters generate representations which should be viewed as analogs of nonexisting regular representation of U(∞). The spectral decomposition of a character of U(∞) is described by the spectral measure which lives on an infinite-dimensional space Ω of indecomposable characters. ...

We present an analysis of bounded-energy low-tension maps between 2-spheres. By deriving sharp estimates for the ratio of length scales on which bubbles of opposite orientation develop, we show that we can establish a ‘quantization estimate’ which constrains the energy of the map to lie near to a discrete energy spectrum. One application is to the asymptotics of the harmonic map flow; we find uniform exponential convergence in time, in the case under consideration.

Let X = G/K be a homogeneous Riemannian manifold where G is the identity component of its isometry group. A C ∞ function F on X is harmonic if it is annihilated by every element of DG (X), the algebra of all G-invariant differential operators without constant term. One of the most beautiful results in the harmonic analysis of symmetric spaces is the Helgason conjecture, which states that on a Riemannian symmetric space of noncompact type, a function is harmonic if and only if it is the Poisson integral of a hyperfunction over the Furstenberg boundary G/Po where...
