Household hazardous waste is an important part of the domestic solid waste stream, which can cause significant harm to the health of families, communities, and the environment if not managed properly. The research was conducted to assess the current status of household hazardous waste generation and management in Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province. The study interviewed 100 households and collected hazardous waste over three months.

In India, the quantity of “E-Waste” or Electronic Waste has now become a major problem. Electronic wastes (E-Wastes) typically include discarded computer monitors, motherboards, mobile phones and charges, compact discs, headphones, television sets, A.C. and refrigerators. Only 20 percent of global E-Waste is recycled. In India most of the waste electronic items are stored at households as people do not know how to discard them. This ever-increasing waste is very complex in nature and is also a rich source of metals.

Risk factors of the adverse health effects among solid waste collectors namely age, level of education, duration of employment, type of work, use of personal protective equipment, awareness about adverse health effects, job stress, and job satisfaction; this shed the light on the urgent need for application of awareness programs to increase their knowledge about occupational health hazards also routine medical examination of waste collectors must be carried out by health officers.

The microorganisms have been introduced to describe the process of using biological agents to remove toxic contamination from agricultural lands. Microorganisms are the most effective management tool to manage the polluted environment and recover contaminated soil. The hazardous wastes generated from the chemical processes/operations are being treated using biological methods by meet the prescribed standard as per the Environmental Protection Act, 1986.

The paper conceptualizes rurbanization to bridge the gap in the research that emanates from the propensity of urban megapolises to create clutter, which results in degraded ecology, air pollution, health hazards, lower quality of life, gender inequity, and vulnerability to natural disasters. This has exacerbated during the current global pandemic. As de-covidating initiatives are unleashed, the energy access would need appropriate and manageable scale. Urbanization cannot be sustained without a robust rural interface.

Among various diseases of rapeseed mustard, Sclerotinia rot caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is emerging out as a serious problem and a major constraint for production and productivity of this crop across the country. Due to increasing environmental concern and health hazard the old management solution of this disease in form of fungicides, need to be replaced with safe and eco-friendly management approach. So the present experiment was carried out for in vitro evaluation of botanical extracts, animal wastes products and organic and inorganic salts against the growth of pathogen.

Advances in scientific development and research activities and patient care activities the amount of waste generated is increasing in amount day by day. About 10 to 25% of the hospital waste is considered hazardous and possess serious health threats. Lack of knowledge about proper segregation and disposal of the health care waste may cause various threats and hazards. All health care workers including doctors, nursing staffs, laboratory technicians, housekeeping individuals are working in our hospital.

Biomedical waste has been one of the major headaches of any hospital. Eighty percent waste generated from the hospitals is general waste and the remaining twenty percent comes under the biomedical waste categories. If this waste is not properly managed, it is dangerous for people, animals and environment due to its high harmful potential. In the present investigation, aerobic bacteria like Escherichia coli (32%), Staphylococcus aureus (28%), and Bacillus spp. (10%) were isolated from the biomedical waste.

Currently, the industrial solid waste and management method are being an urgent issue of many nations in the world. Basing on the state of the DONRE of Hochiminh City of Vietnam, by the end of 2015, the city is producing approximately 53,906 kg of combustible hazardous waste a day. However, there still have not been any official collection systems for industrial and hazardous solid waste in Hochiminh City yet.

Proper methods should be adopted for management of solid waste disposal. Industrial wastes can be treated physically, chemically and biologically until they are less hazardous. Acidic and alkaline wastes should be first neutralized; the insoluble material if biodegradable should be allowed to degrade under controlled conditions before being disposed. As a last resort, new areas for storage of hazardous waste should be investigated such as deep well injection and more secure landfills.

About 155,000 cubic meters of waste contaminated with both radioactive isotopes and hazardous chemicals are stored at some 30 DOE sites, and another 450,000 cubic meters are buried. While DOE is making a concerted effort to properly dispose of this waste, the amount translates to a multi-decade effort that will require handling, characterizing, and shipping hundreds of thousands of waste containers at a total cost of billions of dollars. This report describes basic scientific research that can lead to new technologies for performing these tasks more safely and cost effectively....
