Body worn cameras (BWC) are mobile audio and video capture devices that can be secured to clothing allowing the wearer to record some of what they see and hear. This technology is being introduced in a range of healthcare settings as part of larger violence reduction strategies aimed at reducing incidents of aggression and violence on inpatient wards, however limited evidence exists to understand if this technology achieves such goals.

Electronic health record (EHR) transitions are known to be highly disruptive, can drastically impact clinician and staff experiences, and may influence patients’ experiences using the electronic patient portal. Clinicians and staff can gain insights into patient experiences and be influenced by what they see and hear from patients.

Childhood hearing loss (HL) predicts poor mental health and is associated with a higher risk of communication difficulties. The relationship of childhood HL with specific types of poor mental health (such as depressive symptoms or self-harm) and peer victimisation remains unclear.

Evidence on the association between hearing loss and sick leave or disability pension is to a great extent based on few cross-sectional studies and remains unclear. We aim to assess the associations in a long-term follow-up population study.

Frailty is associated with poor health outcomes in later life. Recent studies suggested that hearing loss may be a potentially modifiable risk factor associated with frailty. Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the association between hearing loss and frailty in observational studies of adults aged 50 years or over. We included observational studies with participants ≥ 50 years old that have clear descriptions of hearing and frailty measurement methods.

With the evolving knowledge on hearing as a potentially modifiable mid-life risk factor for dementia, identification of people at risk becomes increasingly important. People with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) presenting to specialist memory services represent a key “at-risk” target population for audiological evaluation, but few services have established this pathway. This study sought to examine the patient experience and understanding of this process.

There is evidence that parents from more socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds engage in fewer verbal interactions with their child than more advantaged parents. This leads to the so-called, ‘30 millionword gap’.

Congenital hearing loss is one of the most frequent birth defects, and Early Detection and Intervention has been found to improve language outcomes. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (JCIH) established quality of care process indicators and benchmarks for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS).

This paper examines issues around learning „content‟ and its place in the new digital learning culture. We focus on the increasing demands of digital learners for content that is relevant and the challenges this poses if educators are to stay relevant to them. We say „relevance‟ is best achieved when content is negotiated with learners in collaboration with instructors. We describe strategies in which technology enhanced teaching and learning solutions have enabled learners to negotiate and create digitised learning content that is educationally, culturally and socially relevant.

Let’s start with the question about hormones that Extension specialists and agents hear from the public. “Why do you add hormones into chicken feed?” The simple truth is hormones are not added to poultry feeds. This fallacy is fueled by inaccurate statements made by The World Health Organization that apparently has issued a plea to stop giving growth hormones to chickens grown for human consumption.

Many students in the surveys singled out organ music as being particularly detrimental to their viewing experiences. Overall, 43 percent of respondents in the initial survey were neutral towards a piano or organ score, with an addition- al 33.3 percent noting that such music detracted from their engagement with the films. The consensus of the large focus group for the Ballet Mechanique screen- ing was that there would have been diminished interest in the film if an organ score were used. “Organ music would be so distracting, esp.

I became aware of the subjects of this book almost by accident. In the early 1980s, when HIV/AIDS so unexpectedly came upon the world, I was invited by that fine epidemiologist turned international civil servant, Dr Jonathan Mann, to join the World Health Organisation inaugural Global Commission on AIDS. This experience threw me into close contact with some of the leaders of medical science at the time, including Robert Gallo and Luc Montagnier, the two scientists who first isolated the virus that causes AIDS.

BMW first introduced Park Distance Control (PDC) on the 7 series (E32) in 1992. PDC is a driver assistance system that facilitates parking and manoeuvring in confined spaces. The rear area of the vehicle is monitored by four ultrasonic transducers that are integrated into the rear bumper. On some vehicles, the front area of the vehicle is also monitored by four additional ultrasonic transducers in the front bumper. Ultrasonics is the term used to describe sound above the human hearing range at frequencies between 20 kHz and 1000 MHz.
