  • “Colocasia leaves”, (also known as Taro) in its dry form has been known as a good source of Calcium. Scientifically known as Colocasia esculenta and belongs to Araceae. The present study was conducted on “Organoleptic evaluation of dried Colocasia leaves powder incorporated in “kharapar and Puri”. In the present study dried Colocasia leaves powder was incorporated in different ratios in “Kharapara and Puri (0%, 4%, 5%, 6% and 7%). A panel of 15 members was selected through Triangle Test for evaluation of the incorporated recipes.

  • The improvement of yam (Dioscorea spp) nutritional quality is now an important challenge for yam breeders and producers. In order to identify yam parents with high technological potential for their use in varietal improvement schemes, two most dominant cooking forms (boiled and pounded) were considered. A total of 48 yam (Dioscorea rotundata Poir.) cultivars used as parents in Benin yam breeding program were evaluated. Trained and untrained panelists were invited to taste coded and randomized samples of boiled and pounded yam for the various tests using appropriate methods.

  • Attempts were made to enhance the shelf life of Burfi by microwave irradiation. Standard Plate Count; Coliform Count; Yeast and Mold Count; Proteolytic Count; Acid Producers Count; Staphylococcus Count and Sensory evaluation on a nine point Hedonic Scale of each product i.e. treated and untreated products stored at ambient condition (30˚C) and at refrigerated condition (5 - 7˚C) was done at 0 day, 2nd day, 5th day, 7th day and onward till they were acceptable based on organoleptic test and consumer acceptance.

  • The present study was planned to assess the nutritional status and consumption pattern of fermented foods among local people of Manipur. From the survey the most commonly consumed foods fermented fish (Ngari) and fermented bamboo shoot (Soibum) were screen out and further organoleptic microbial and storage studies were carried out in the selected products. From the present study, it was revealed that 53 % of the respondents were having poor knowledge, 34% were in average knowledge and 13 % of the respondents were in good knowledge.

  • Recently, Russell (2003) performed a similar study, also by using artworks to test Bartletts concept of effort after meaning (Bartlett, 1932). In accordance with Bartletts pre- diction, in a within-subjects design, Russell (2003) found an increase in the meaningfulness and hedonic value from first to second ratings when the paintings were presented with descriptions in the second phase (description plus title and the artists name). In Russells study, images of abstract and semiabstract art were presented. A comparison between abstract and representational art was not made.
