Nghiên cứu này được tiến hành nhằm xác định mật độ trồng và loại phân bón tối ưu cho sinh trưởng, phát triển và năng suất của cây hoa hướng dương tại thành phố Tam Kỳ, tỉnh Quảng Nam. Năng suất hạt và đường kính đài hoa đạt cao nhất ở công thức P3M2 (tương ứng với mật độ 42.500 cây và bón phân trùn quế).

This study was aimed to evaluate the physicochemical properties and chemical profile of seeds oil obtained from new seven sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) lines as well as their antioxidant and enzyme inhibition activity. The seeds powder was extracted by maceration in n-hexane. The oil content of the seven lines was ranged from 20.04% to 36.65% and was either yellow or pale yellow in color. No significant variations were observed on the refractive index (1.46 unit) of the oil.

This study was carried out to investigate the ameliorative effects of salt pretreatment against B toxicity in two sunflower cultivars (Helianthus annuus L. ‘Sanbro’ and ‘Tarsan-1018’) differing in salt tolerance. Seedlings were grown in perlite with modified half-strength Hoagland’s solution for 15 days and then they were divided into two groups: salt-pretreated (75 mM NaCl for 5 days) and B-treated (control, 2, 4, and 8 mM B for 10 days). In both cultivars, the biomass of root and shoot decreased depending on B accumulation, especially at 8 mM.

Here, we present an analysis of the genetic architecture of safflower domestication and compare our findings to those from sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), an independently domesticated oilseed crop within the same family.

Genetic diversity analysis in diversified CMS and restorer lines in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)
The study revealed that maximum contribution to divergence was made by plant height, seed yield per plant and oil content. Cluster I composed of restorer genotypes which are having higher mean value for volume weight. RHA-91, which was included in cluster III recorded maximum mean value for oil content. Cluster V (CMS109B) showed maximum mean value for oil yield and seed filling per cent. Based on cluster mean values for a given characters, we can select highly divergent genotypes from the respective clusters and can be used in hybridization work.

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is an important edible oilseed crop in the country next to groundnut and soybean. One of the major factors for reduction in area of the crop is being attributed to the occurrence of fungal and viral diseases like sunflower necrosis disease (SND) and Sunflower leaf curl virus (SuLCV) resulting in yield loss in most of the sunflower growing regions of Southern and Northern India. In Karnataka, SuLCV has been reported to occur in almost all the popular sunflower hybrids grown during kharif, rabi and summer seasons with varied intensity.

After nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, sulphur is the fourth nutrient, whose deficiency is widespread in India. Sulphur deficiency is observed primarily due to high crop yield and therefore higher rate of sulphur removal by crops, and lesser use of sulphur-containing fertilizers. Boron foliar sprays seemed to overcome the deleterious effects of drought by overcoming the drought-related molecular responses and consequently appeared to meliorate sunflower growth under insufficient water conditions.

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the important oilseed crop, with comparatively narrow genetic base. To broaden the genetic base wild species have been used through wide hybridization. Generally wide hybridization comes with linkage drags which contribute several undesirable traits to cultivated species. In the present study, comparative analysis of backcross (BC2F3) and selfed (BC1F4) progenies was carried out to know the extent of variability in desirable direction created in both the generation derived from wide hybridization.

Powdery mildew caused by Golovinomyces cichoracearum (DC.) V.P. Heluta (formerly Erysiphe cichoracearum) is a common foliar disease on senescing leaves of cultivated sunflower in warmer regions of the world. In India, the powdery mildew disease is becoming major constraint in cultivation of sunflower crop especially during post rainy season. Using molecular markers one can examine genetic diversity of species, cultivars, lines and forms of sunflower, identify genotypes, systematize collection material, classify heterosis groups and construct genetic maps. Fourteen parental genotypes of sunflower viz.,CMS-2A, CMS-821A, CMS-850A, R-10-46-2A, CMS-A4, CMS-A6, CMS-A10, R-GM-39, R-GM-41, R-GM-49, R-GM-69, 83-Br, R-393 and R2F01120B were analyzed for genetic diversity using 15 RAPD and 44 SSR primers. The genetic similarity index computed considering pooled data of SSR and RAPD markers showed very wide range from 0.18 to 0.

In order to know the dynamics of calcium absorption in sunflower seedlings, an experiment was established under laboratory conditions, at the Universidad Tecnologica de Tehuacan, to evaluate five levels of Ca(CO3)2 in the solution.
