The present study reported the isolation, elucidation of compounds from the whole plant and their cytotoxic activities on Hep G2 (HB - 8065TM, hepatocellular carcinoma), A549 (CCL-185™, pulmonary adenocarcinoma), and MCF-7 (HTB - 22TM, breast cancer) cell lines. As a result, velutin exhibited the most significant cytotoxicity against Hep G2, A549, and MCF-7 cell lines with IC50 values of 34.00, 30.85, and 41.33 μg/mL, respectively.

: The study aims to determine the secondary metabolites of Hypericum androsaemum L. extracts by liquid chromatographyhigh resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS), and investigate the antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of the plant. Cytotoxic activity was evaluated by MTT assay, and apoptosis induction abilities on human prostate adenocarcinoma (PC-3), and hepatocellular carcinoma (Hep G2) cell lines. Accordingly, major secondary metabolites were found as hederagenin (762 ± 70.10 μg/g) in the leaves dichloromethane (LD), herniarin (167 ± 1.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third main cause of cancer-related death. Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and their cyclin partners regulate the cell cycle. Since inhibition of CDKs gives some guiding ideas for cancer studies, we aimed to determine the possible effects of R547, a cyclin kinase 1-2-4 inhibitor, on proliferation and apoptotic mechanisms of Hep G2 cells (human) and H-4- II-E cells derived from rat HCC.

A phytochemical investigation of whole Aspidistra letreae plants led to the isolation of 2Hchromen-2-one (1), α-tocopherol (2), (E)-phytol (3), asparenydiol (4) and (25S)-spirost-1β,3α,5β-triol (5). Their structures were determined on the basis of NMR spectral evidences and in comparison with the reported data. Of these, asparenydiol (4) was isolated from the genus Aspidistra for the first time. This is also the first report on the separation and structural determination of (25S)-spirost-1β,3α,5β-triol (5) as a pure compound.

Our study focused on S. crassifolium, one of the most abundant tropical brown algal species in South Central region of Vietnam. To our knowledge there had been no report on the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging effect of its methanolic extract. The purpose of this study was to isolate and structurally elucidate the antioxidant component in dichlorofluorescein assay from S. Crassifolium methanolic extract.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality. We previously showed that the inhibition of placental growth factor (PlGF) exerts antitumour effects and induces vessel normalisation, possibly reducing hypoxia. However, the exact mechanism underlying these effects remains unclear.

This paper develops a novel method called TDQ to quantify the demethylation epigenetic toxicity, termed the 5-AZA-CdR demethylation toxic equivalency, of aquatic samples from the heavily polluted Bohai Bay using Hep G2 cell lines transiently transfected with the pEGFP-C3 plasmid containing a methylated promoter of the EGFP reporter gene inserted artificially in vitro.

A simple and efficient synthesis of two new hydroximinosteroidal derivatives (11, 13) from cholesterol as starting material was described. The cytotoxicity of these compounds, their intermediates and two other known hydroximinosteroids were evaluated on human cancer cell lines including hepatocellular carcinoma (Hep-G2), cervical cancer (HeLa) and glioblastoma (T98G).

The major components of stem-leaf are: (Z)-3-hexen-1-ol, trans-caryophyllene, αfarnesene, copaene while the major components of flower are: α-pinene, 2-β-pinene, β-myrcene, limonene, α-caryophyllene, epibicyclosesquiphellandrene. The essential oil of the stem-leaf showed cytotoxic activities in vitro on RD and Hep-G2 cancer cells with the IC50 values of 16.1 and 19.9μg/ml, respectively. The study on the plant is being continued.

Their structures were characterized by the combination of HR-MS, one and two dimensional NMR spectroscopic analyses. In addition, ergosterol peroxide and kansenone showed good cytotoxicity against four cancer cell lines, KB (human epidermal carcinoma), MCF7 (human breast carcinoma), SK-LU-1 (human lung carcinoma) and Hep-G2 (hepatocellular carcinoma). This is the first report on the chemical constituents and cytotoxic steroids from Ganoderma sp. in Laos.

Two new conjugates of murrayafoline A with zerumbone and artemisinin 3, 11 were prepared by N-alkylation, in which, compound 3 was synthesized from two consecutive Nalkylation reactions. Their cytotoxicity was evaluated on four human cancer cell lines Hep-G2, LU, RD and Fl. The result showed that both compounds exhibited no activity against the tested cell lines.

Cycloart-23Z-ene-3-25-diol was isolated from the leaves of Aglaia gigantea by bioassayguided fractionation. This compound showed very good cytotoxicity against human hepatoma (Hep-G2) and KB cells. In oder to investigate the relationship between biological activity and structure of the derivatives of cycloart-23Z-ene-3-25-diol, we carried out synthesis of several new derivatives and examined their biological activities.

In our studies on the phytochemistry and biological activities of Croton tonkinensis Gagnep. (Euphorbiaceae) oriented by traditional medicine interesting biological activities of the plant were demonstrated in correlation with the ent-kaurane-type diterpenoid constituents. The high accumulation of the active principle ent-18-acetoxy-7-hydroxykaur-16-en-15-one (1) led to our recent study on the chemical modification of this lead compound. In this paper the transformations of 1 into several derivatives by hydrolysis, acetylation, and oxydation were reported.

The herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase⁄ganciclovir (HSV-tk⁄GCV) sys-tem that selectively depletes cells expressing HSV-tk upon treatment with GCV has provided a valuable tool for developing a new animal model expressing the desired tissue damage. In this paper, an HSV-tk vector with an albumin promoter⁄enhancer was constructed. Based on the favourable killing effect on Hep-G2 cells by the recombinant construct, the HSV-tk transgenic mouse strains were developed.
