This plant contains natural compounds such as iridoids, naphthalene glycosides, and especially anthraquinones and anthraquinone glycosides. [9,10] Several compositions of M. longissima stems and roots have been reported to inhibit the in vitro replication of the hepatitis B virus. [11,12] Thus, the search for TNF-α inhibitors from the M. longissima plant and their natural constituents, especially anthraquinone compounds, by molecular docking approaches is necessary for the discovery of potential drug candidates for inflammation-mediated diseases.

Immune related adverse events impacting the liver are common from immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy; however, there is little data regarding the subclinical impact of ICIs on liver inflammation. The study aims to determine whether ICI therapy effects liver attenuation and liver enzymes in melanoma patients with and without hepatic steatosis.

Syphilis is a systemic disease caused by the transmission through sexual contact of Treponema pallidum. It has a high incidence in men who have sex with other men, and is associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. The diagnosis depends on serological tests or confirmation of the spirochete in histological samples.

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic, autoimmune cholestatic disease, characterized by inflammation of the small and mediumsized bile ducts, which can lead to cirrhosis. Two to nineteen percent of patients with PBC have been reported to have features that overlap with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH).

Compared to conventional tidal volume ventilation, low tidal-volume ventilation reduces mortality in cased of acute respiratory distress syndrome. The aim of the present study is to determine whether low tidal-volume ventilation reduces the production of inflammatory mediators in the lungs and improves physiological status during hepatic surgery.

Overfeeding reduces laying performance in broiler breeder hens, which is associated with obesity, hepatic steatosis and systemic inflammation. To unravel the underlying mechanisms governing the effect of feeding regimes on energy metabolism and egg production, a transcriptomics approach was carried out for screening differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in ovary, liver and adipose tissues of broiler chickens under ad libitum and restricted feeding.

Bile duct invasion is a relatively rare event and is not well characterised in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It remains very difficult to diagnose HCC with bile duct tumour thrombus (BDTT) before surgery. Increasing evidence has revealed that inflammation plays a critical role in tumorigenesis.

Plasma levels of cell-free DNA (cf-DNA) are known to be elevated in sepsis and high levels are associated with a poor prognosis. Mechanical ventilation affects systemic inflammation in which lung-protective ventilation attenuates the inflammatory response.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a frequent type of primary liver cancer, and its prevalence is increasing worldwide. Indeed, the underlying molecular mechanism is not well understood. Previous studies have shown evidence that tight junction (TJ) components were correlated with carcinogenesis and tumor development.

Autoimmune endocrine disorders are considered one of the extrahepatic manifestations of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. HCV could trigger cytokines release due to local inflammation. Interleukin 17 a (IL17a) and Interferon gamma (IFNγ) play an important role in pathogenesis of autoimmune disease. Herein, we tried to assess the serum levels of IL17a and IFN-gamma in cirrhotic HCV infected patients with autoimmune thyroiditis. Serum samples were collected from 183 cirrhotic HCV infected patients.

Accumulation of toxic free cholesterol in hepatocytes may cause hepatic inflammation and fibrosis. Volixibat inhibits bile acid reuptake via the apical sodium bile acid transporter located on the luminal surface of the ileum. The resulting increase in bile acid synthesis from cholesterol could be beneficial in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.

Among the genus, Selaginella rolandi-principis Alston was first recorded in 1934 9. In Vietnam, Selaginella is found growing on rocks and/or sandy arid land along the country at an elevation of less than 1000 m above sea level. Among thirty nine recognized species, thirteen of them are common appearance including S. rolandi-principis. The plant has been used in Vietnamese folk medicine to treat acute hepatitis, cholecystitis, inflammation, dysentery, pulmonary tuberculosis and hyperglycemia.

There is an increasing prevalence of obesity and metabolic syndrome, which promote the development of non–alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a disease that can evolve into cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Repin1 loss was previously shown to have beneficial effects on lipid and glucose metabolism and obesity regulation. Herein, we characterized NAFLD in mice with hepatic deletion of Repin1 (LRep1/). For this purpose, liver disease was analysed in male LRep1/ and wild-type mice treated with streptozotocin/high fat diet or a control diet over a period of 20 wks.
