CRC with liver metastases is a major contributor to cancer-related mortality. Despite advancements in liver resection techniques, patient survival remains a concern due to high recurrence rates. This study seeks to uncover prognostic biomarkers that predict overall survival in patients undergoing curative hepatic resection for CRC liver metastases.

Evaluation of treated tumors according to Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) criteria is an important but time-consuming task in medical imaging. Deep learning methods are expected to automate the evaluation process and improve the efficiency of imaging interpretation.

Although 80% of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) experience liver metastases, only 10–25% undergo resection at the time of diagnosis. Even in initially unresectable conditions, if appropriate treatment is provided, such as surgical conversion through a combination of hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) chemotherapy and systemic chemotherapy (sys-CT), better overall survival can be expected.

Metastases to the kidney from lung cancer are very rare and are usually therefore recognized at autopsy. A 71-year-old man visited the urology department due to symptoms of worsening hematuria. An abdominal computed tomography scan showed a right renal mass. After a nephrectomy, he was diagnosed with small cell lung carcinoma, and further investigation showed small cell lung cancer in the central area of the left upper lobe with hepatic, bone and brain metastases.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most lethal cancers due to its high metastasis rate in the liver. However, little is known about the molecular features of hepatic metastases due to difficulty in obtaining fresh tissues and low tumor cellularity

The impact of hepatic resection for liver metastases (LM) on the survival of pediatric patients with Wilms’ tumor (WT) is unclear. So far, there is a lack of studies investigating the best suited treatment for patients with WTLM, and the role of liver resection has rarely been investigated. Thus, the development of evidence-based guide‑ lines concerning indications of liver resection for WTLM remains difficult.

The frequent manifestation and the variable appearance of liver metastases result in an interdisciplinary challenge, regarding treatment management. The aim of this study was to evaluate high-precision stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for liver metastases.

The management of liver metastases from nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has not been extensively investigated. This study aimed to compare the long-term outcome of patients with liver metastases from NPC who were treated by a partial hepatectomy or transcatheter hepatic artery chemoembolization (TACE).

Malnutrition is an independent risk factor of postoperative morbidity and mortality and it’s observed in 20 to 50% of surgical patients. Preoperative interventions to optimize the nutritional status, reduce postoperative complications and enteral nutrition has proven to be superior to the parenteral one.

Patients with primary and metastatic liver malignancies represent a highly heterogeneous patient pool characterised by some of the shortest life expectancies amongst oncology patients. Investigation and better understanding of liver malignancies is an emerging field which requires high-quality multidisciplinary research and collaboration.

Primary pancreatic leiomyosarcoma is a rare pancreatic malignancy; the clinical presentation and treatment is not well-characterized. Further, the molecular mechanisms underlying its pathogenesis are not known. We report a patient with pancreatic stromal tumor that progressed to primary pancreatic leiomyosarcoma with hepatic and peritoneal metastases.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-associated deaths with liver metastases developing in 25–30% of those affected. Previous data suggest a survival difference between right- and left-sided liver metastatic CRC, even though left-sided cancer has a higher incidence of liver metastases.

After curative-intent surgery for colorectal liver metastases (CRLM), liver recurrence occurs in more than 60% of patients, despite the administration of perioperative or adjuvant chemotherapy. This risk is even higher after resection of more than three CRLM.

In patients undergoing major liver resection, portal vein embolization (PVE) has been widely used to induce hypertrophy of the non-embolized liver in order to prevent post-hepatectomy liver failure. PVE is a safe and effective procedure, but does not always lead to sufficient hypertrophy of the future liver remnant (FLR).

Recurrences are reported in 70% of all patients after resection of colorectal liver metastases (CRLM), in which half are confined to the liver. Adjuvant hepatic arterial infusion pump (HAIP) chemotherapy aims to reduce the risk of intrahepatic recurrence.

Approximately 40% of colorectal cancer patients will develop colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). The most effective approach to increase long-term survival is CRLM complete resection. Unfortunately, only 10–15% of CRLM are initially considered resectable.
