The identification of genes causing a genetic disease is still an important issue in the biomedical field because the list of disease genes is still incomplete while it determines the early diagnosis and treatment of fatal genetic diseases such as autism, cancer, drug resistance, and secondary hypertension.

The formation of micro/mesoporous zeolites by treating zeolite crystals with alkaline hydroxides has received a lot of interest, but fundamental understanding is still lacking. Here, we study the reactivity of a crystalline zeolitic material with various alkaline hydroxides, to close this knowledge gap.

After reading the material in this chapter, you should be able to: Describe the hierarchical operations planning process in terms of materials planning (APP, MPS, MRP) and capacity planning (RRP, RCCP, CRP); describe MRP, closed-loop MRP, MRP-II, DRP, ERP, and their relationships; understand the terms used in MRP computations;…

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are special noncoding RNA molecules with closed loop structures. Compared with the traditional linear RNA, circRNA is more stable and not easily degraded.

This work deals with the control design and development of an automated car-following strategy that further increases robustness to vehicle dynamics uncertainties. The control algorithm is applied on a hierarchical architecture where high and low level control layers are designed for gap-control and desired acceleration tracking, respectively. A fractional-order controller is proposed due to its flexible frequency shape, fulfilling more demanding design requirements.

Food predilection is linked to variants in the hepatokine ‘‘Fibroblast Growth Factor-21” gene (FGF21); with rs838133 linked to the sweet tooth in Caucasians. The effect of FGF21 variants on food intake is still unclear in other populations. A cohort of 196 healthy Emirati subjects was investigated [age: 30.34 ± 9. 75yrs (44.4% males)]. The FGF21 rs838133 and rs838145 were genotyped. The daily intake was calculated based on a 61-item food frequency questionnaire.

The role of the television has huge impact on the 21st century and basically the televisions either make use of SFN single frequency networks (SFN) or multi frequency networks (MFN) and both these networks are ideal for meeting the practical requirements either in local and global services. Another important drawback in these two networks are these two networks consumes huge amount of spectrum.

All governors have some sort of safety shutdown mechanism to operate automatically or manually to close the wicket gates in case of emergency. The device is usually controlled by a solenoid. In most cases, a weighted arm that is connected to the gate limit mechanism is held in place by the solenoid. If the trip is initiated, either automatically or manually, the solenoid is de- energized, dropping the weight, causing the gate limit to go to zero. A few installations have shutdown solenoids that are designed so that they must be energized to trip. Typically, there...

We propose a novel method for learning morphological paradigms that are structured within a hierarchy. The hierarchical structuring of paradigms groups morphologically similar words close to each other in a tree structure. This allows detecting morphological similarities easily leading to improved morphological segmentation. Our evaluation using (Kurimo et al., 2011a; Kurimo et al., 2011b) dataset shows that our method performs competitively when compared with current state-ofart systems.

We propose a new hierarchical Bayesian n-gram model of natural languages. Our model makes use of a generalization of the commonly used Dirichlet distributions called Pitman-Yor processes which produce power-law distributions more closely resembling those in natural languages. We show that an approximation to the hierarchical Pitman-Yor language model recovers the exact formulation of interpolated Kneser-Ney, one of the best smoothing methods for n-gram language models.

The previous chapter it has become clear that the evaluation of large closed queueing networks can be quite unattractive from a computational point of view; this was also the reason for addressing approximation schemes and bounding methods. In this chapter we go a different way to attack large queueing network models: hierarchical modelling and evaluation. We address a modelling and evaluation approach where large submodels are solved in isolation and where the results of such an isolated evaluation are used in other models.
